  • I know a lot of Mammoth fans wanted the Knights over the Oilers. I think the Oilers would have been an easier out.

Lots of Mammoth fans at the game last night. I understand that VGK tickets are much cheaper than Mammoth tickets. Plus, easier to get to Vegas than Edmonton.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

VGK also have a real hockey arena. The Delta Center is awful for hockey.

I sat next to some Canadians from Saskatchewan (Regina!) who love Vegas and decided go to a playoff game. The woman played hockey herself.

What I thought was most interesting was how they described going to a hockey game in Canada vs. Vegas. VGK games are super fun, loud, tons of music and Vegas-style crap. They said how in Canada the hockey games are all super serious, a totally different vibe.

          Man, Canadians, amirite?

I can't remember if I told this before, but sort of related:

We were at a dinner with someone who does analytics with a US NHL team. I was surprised when she said it is difficult to keep Canadian players north of the border, and not just because of economics. She said that Canadian players generally love the relative anonymity they enjoy when playing in the states. More often than not they can go out for dinner without being recognized by everyone. Not so in Canada. They are both adored and scrutinized at a higher level.

            • Pretty funny that the Flyers player gets a penalty for high sticking Crosby and then Crosby gets one for embellishing. I've never seen that call before.

              • Mitchell Marner has not been much of a charmer in this series or able to garner wins.

                • Rough loss for Utah. They really outplayed the Knights in that game, which is only the second game all series that they have done that. I think the Knights close it out in game 6.

Which Vegas line scored the winning (shorthanded) goal last night?

The one with the Canadian Charmer that garnered a win in that game. When I posted my statement, it was true.

VGK is going to win this series.

Marner has been a solid contributor this year, but not nearly to the level his contract would dictate. I think VGK will have to come back to Vegas to win in 7, and that game will be a dogfight. But even if they do win, they are exiting in the next round. This team, is too flawed for a deep playoff run.

I don't know about exiting in the next round. The next round may be against the Ducks, which is an easier matchup than the Mammoth. Now, if you get to the Avs, you are going to be destroyed.

                            • The Lightning - Habs series was great hockey.

Habs stole game 7. They were really outplayed, but got the win.
