Ha. Yeah, probably true. I know we all want a championship and they haven't delivered; but I think you also have to be realistic about the nature of both the league and the organization itself. What Utah has done in the last 25+ years is pretty remarkable.Originally posted by Jacob View PostThat's not a very high standard when you are given no credit.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

No Ernie Grunfeld? WTF?

"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I can agree with that quote while maintaining that KOC has done a piss-poor job of drafting and acquiring players over the past 5 years. At least until Minny decided to give away Jefferson, and the only other offer on the table was Dallas, who wasn't giving up draft picks and was requiring Minny to take back salary.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostHa. I acknowledge that it is very difficult to put a good NBA team together. But that has more to do with the constraints of the CBA than the difficulty in finding a good GM. Probably the best think KOC has done is in avoiding a lot of blunders.

I'm fine with his draft record and FA signings. My biggest complaint in the last decade would be the contracts we've handed out to our own guys. AK (was that Layden? Can't remember) and the recent Harp and Memo contracts are the biggest mistakes made in the last ten years or so. But, again, I think that's part of being in Utah -- absolutely nobody wants to be here, so you end up giving K's that probably aren't warranted to a guy that is committed to staying here.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI can agree with that quote while maintaining that KOC has done a piss-poor job of drafting and acquiring players over the past 5 years. The other day CMBF listed a bunch of locations that are completely undersirable around the league. I think his list was pretty accurate, and it was interesting to note just how much more successful Utah has been than any other team among that group -- and this considering that even among that group Utah is still probably the very bottom rung. In many ways I think they are working from one of the handful of smallest pools of resources, yet they consistenly turn out a winner. Ford said the other day that he thinks KOC is a top 5 GM (yeah, I know, Ford loves KOC for some reason), and about a week or so ago Bill Simmons said Utah was easily among the best 5 run franchises in the league. We (Jazz fans) constantly bitch about them, but if you step away from it all and consider what they are working with, they've done a stellar job.So Russell...what do you love about music? I didn't say it was you! But yeah, whoever is posting that stuff is getting it from Simmons' podcast. I was actually a bit disappointed that Simmons didn't discuss the Al Jeff acquisition more (or, at all, really), since he loves Al.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostOr reading JH's!
