Sad that I might have to Tivo this and watch it later, my wife invited my parents and some other family over to watch fireworks. WTF?

Tell them you will watch all the fireworks they want on July 4th, but to your knowledge blowing things up on July 3rd is not a celebration of anything American and may even be a communist plot.

I can be described as at best a casual UFC fan. I have ordered 3 PPVs ever and thought 2 of them were very good and 1 was kind of boring. I am as excited for this one as I have been for almost any sporting event.

I don't know what I am doing for this yet. Being on the east coast means that we might be done with fireworks and have the kids in bed in time for me to zip over to the BWW and have only missed a couple fights. Most of the time the main event doesn't start any sooner than 11:30 pm so I should be able to slip out for that for sure. Super doesn't know yet. Shhhh!

Sounds like I will have to buy the fights myself. WTF is right.

This Petrozelli v Romero was awesome. That was a great fight.

Absolutely unbelievable card from the Prelims to the end. I no I am fairly new to this but in two years, I have never seen a card like that. It was unreal. If you didn't buy it live, find a way to watch the replays.

                  Wow.

                  Spoiler for Lesnar/Carwin:
I thought that Lesnar was getting destroyed in the first round. Turns out he was just playing rope-a-dope. Guy is unreal, I think he is a real life monster.

Best UFC in a while. The Bonnar and Leben fights were great, as was Carwin/Lesnar. Can't wait for the eventual rematch.

                      Awesome effing card.

                      Spoiler for Lesnar/Carwin:
I thought that thing was over. Wow. If there were any questions about Lesnar's chin or toughness they were put to rest tonight. I'm not sure he was playing rope-a-dope. He was genuinely hurt and was running from Carwin before getting taken down against the fence on his back. I don't think he was ever out of it. Not even close. But he got his brain rattled for sure.

Also, I'm almost positive that if any other ref were assigned to this fight besides Rosenthal, Carwin would have been awarded a TKO. He's notorious for letting guys eat about 5 more punches than they should.

Lesnar ate a ton of leather and weathered it all. That was very impressive. Especially given Carwin who packs a wallop in those short bows and punches. That arm triangle was sick. Brock looked incredibly nimble after getting rocked transitioning into half guard then passing to side control and slapping that sucker and rolling into it to cinch that sucker. Lesnar is legit. I thought it was pretty cool that the WWE familia was there to support him. He's one bad ass mofo. I don't think Cain Velasquez can hang.

Ha I noticed all the WWE guys trying to get their washed up mugs on camera too. I was glad to see Goldberg is still alive, I had no idea.

Great card, almost didn't go catch it, but glad I did. Surfah, there were people asking us why the Wingmaster wasn't with us this time.

                          Spoiler for "next up question:
Do we know for sure that Valasquez gets the next title shot? Or might they put him up agaisnt a guy like Carwin first?
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                            Spoiler for UFC 116 results:
Carwin had that fight won and in fact if his opponent was anyone other than the champ I think it would have been stopped. Carwin flat out gassed. Lesnar never laid a glove on him that I saw. Second round he took Carwin down easily (couldn't do that in the first) and Carwin had nothing left. I mean a triangle choke? Are you kidding me? Carwin won all of the striking and it wasn't close. How bad must he feel that he didn't have good enough cardio. Wow. So what now? Rematch, or Lesnar/Velásquez? Lesnar got beat up tonight, he won't be cleared to fight for a while. I think Lesnar will headline the New Years eve event.

Agree about the Leben fight. I love watching that guy, he is entertaining every time. Bonner saved his UFC career tonight. Disappointing effort from Krystov (sp?).

Also, how about Matt Brown getting submitted with a straight arm arm bar. I had to look that one up when I got home. I've never seen anyone submit with that technique. Missed the prelims and just saw from Bonner fight forward, but great fights.

                              Spoiler for More spoliers:
                              Bloody elbow gets it right:

We learned a few things about Brock Lesnar tonight. We confirmed what many suspected: Brock Lesnar doesn't like to get hit. As soon as Carwin touched him, Lesnar did more than cover up. He flat cowered against the cage. He wasn't hurt as much as terrified. Make no mistake-Carwin had that fight won. Against anyone who isn't the promotion's heavyweight champion, that fight gets stopped due to some brutal ground and pound.

Lucky for Lesnar, Carwin isn't merely a one-round fighter. He doesn't event have that much in him. Three minutes into the bout and Carwin's heaving breaths couldn't feed his mammoth muscles. Lesnar survived, less because of his own defensive prowess and more because Carwin gassed and gassed bad.

We learned a few things about Shane Carwin, too. When the fight went to the second round, Carwin was no longer participating. He looked like he was approaching a heart attack and was like a spectator at his own execution. Lesnar took him to the mat with a sloppy tackle and shortly thereafter finished him with an arm triangle. It was hardly a display of technical prowess. Carwin had either checked out mentally or simply couldn't summon the energy to defend himself.
