Nice slate of fights on FX tonight. McGee looked flat and soft. That was disappointing. Both flyweight flights were fun, the tournament format is interesting. Those little dudes really get after it. Finally what unbelievably stupid overconfidence by Alvez at the end of the fight. Dominates pretty much the whole thing and get submitted with under a minute left.

Overall, nice card for FX. Looking forward to the ultimate fighter next week. Having it live will be cool.

I've been watching Strikeforce tonight. That Ronda Rousey is pretty nasty. She's an armbar machine. She snapped champion Meisha Tate's arm tonight. She refused to tap and had one locked in early in the match and it looked like she popped the capsule then. But then she finished her off with a second one and it was gross.

That's precisely where his freak show belongs. He'll probably make more money there anyway.

Amazing how fast he went from an unbeatable juggernaut who a superheavyweight division might need to be created for to a guy who couldn't stand with the strikers in the division. The health issues were a factor, but I think it is mostly that he was always one dimensional and too old or just not interested in becoming better rounded.

I think it was all those things. His health issues though compounded his weaknesses. He wasn't able to train. He got older. Just getting back into fighting shape with what he went through was an accomplishment. I saw the video of him and Cena and Brock didn't even look the same. He was puffy and looked much smaller than he did in his prime.

If you look at the entrance video behind him of how he looked in 2004, it's like that's two different people almost.

His fight with Dos Santos is probably out the window. Apparently he is as stupid as he looks. Dana White reacts:

I watched UFC on Fuel this weekend. It was a really solid group of fights headlined by Alexander Gustafsson vs. Thiago Silva and Brian Stann vs. Sakara.

Gustafsson couldn't finish the fight, but he controlled the action the whole way and Silva never really threatened him. This makes his 5th win in a row. Chael Sonnon said in the post-fight that nobody at 205 that has won 5 in a row has not received a title shot next. Some don't think it'll come that quickly for him and that he might be looking at Shogun or Machida next. Should be interesting.

Stann dominated his fight and even pulled up and made sure the ref was gonna step in after he knocked his opponent out.

All in all a good set of warm up fights for this weekend's showdown between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans.

Aside from Rory Macdonald's fight, that was a terrible card. And what a disappointing fight between Evans and Jones. It was boring. And WTF was he doing pulling guard with 15 seconds left? That's a lame ass move. Jones couldn't finish Evans. Glad I didn't pay for this one.

I agree. The fights on fx were absolutely horrible. Shuab appears to have the jaw of cinderellas slipper.

                          BORING.

Max Bretos sucks. He is ruining MMA live for me.

Pretty good slate of fights tonight.

Alan Belcher was dominant in his performance against Palharas(sp?). I'd like to see him maybe fight Michael Bisping next.

Koscheck rocked Hendricks early in round 1 and may have even gotten him with an eye poke, but he seemed to recover from that. Overall though, a pretty good contest between two very good wrestlers. I would've probably scored it 2 rounds to 1 for Koscheck, but it was a very close fight, which is why it ended as a split decision for Hendricks. The win probably thrusts Hendricks into the title picture somewhere, but there is a long line right now for the belt in that division. I do like Hendricks a lot though, he's easy to root for.

Miller vs. Diaz had a lot of intrigue going into it. I had read that if Diaz won he would get a title shot, but if Miller won he would not immediately get a title shot...which doesn't make a lot of sense unless the perspective is that Henderson fairly recently beat Miller on his way to the belt. Either of these guys would be an interesting fight for Frankie Edgar I think. As for the fight, Miller had a tough time finding his range early against the taller Diaz. Diaz did his typical clowning act, which I know some people like, but I find a bit tiresome...but you can't argue with the way he's finished the last two fights he's had with Cerrone and now Miller. Does he deserve a title shot? No, I don't think so, but he's probably close and he's a fighter that the UFC can sell especially against a guy like Henderson.
