Throwdown smoker bouts!!!

I know a few of you have met my good friend Will. Will is a jr. high principal and a huge MMA fan. (Fusnik, SMR, Coach, and HL I know have all met him for sure) about 6 months ago he decided he wanted to fight in 1 fully sanctioned MMA bout just to cross it off the bucket list. He has been training hard for 6 months, his stand up is tight, wrestling is solid, but in 6 months he was not going to submit anyone with his jits.

They put him in with a guy that is a purple belt in jiu jitsu and who has 5 fights.

Will fought hard and was dominating the standup, until this guy took him down, got Will on his back and finished him with an arm triangle.

Will said he was going to go to sleep like a man but his wife was there and he knew it would freak her out.

I really wanted to make it down there. My wife was a little anti with me turning all of saturday into an MMA+MW2 weekend with Mom's day being today. My wife would flip her lid if she watched me get sandmanned, so I sympathize with him tapping. That fact that he got in the ring to fight is plain awesome.

Good times. Thanks for the update, CJ. Based on the little time I spent with him, he seems like one of the truly good guys. He did something that I think a lot of us would love to do, but don't have the stones to do it.

By the way Court Mcgee wrapped his hands for the fight, and told him about 3 different times to keep watching the show. I think Court may get the wild card.

I just talked to him about that first picture and he said he does not remember the guy kicking him at all.

Takes a lot of guts once you watch some fights live. I know I couldn't do it.

I have a buddy (He fought under the name Buddy Love) who fought in a couple of fights here locally and never won one. We all couldn't believe he decided to fight but he did. About 6 feet tall and pretty thin, he never did get much of a stand up game despite months of training. Despite his length, against shorter opponents he did better on the ground. After his last fight he came away looking like an overripe tomatoes and decided to hang up the gloves. We were all secretly jealous he had the stones to compete.
