Right now, he's young and not quite mature enough to realize that a Texas-leaguer to the opposite field is just as effective as a line-drive single. Everyone wants to make solid contact each at bat, but the best hitters take what they can get. As he gets older, he'll figure it out.

That's how I see it, anyway.

Good points. Hard to disagree with that.

Agreed. I'd even say it's a solid season for any age, especially a rookie. He's more than proven that he belongs at that level.

And it was a bit surprising that it didn't happen sooner, as minor league pitching had already seemd to catch up to him as he advanced.

Definitely. It will be interesting to see what Davey Johnson does going forward. For a while it was starting to look like he might be rotating Harper and Tyler Moore (though he denied it) depending on whether the starter was a lefty or righty. But as of late it appears that Bryce has shored that situation back up.

I believe Harper will be great for us for years to come. But as of right now my man crush has shifted to the Beast.

It's amazing that his averages and %'s have regressed to almost exactly mirror the projections statisticians were making for him when he was called up. I wish I could find a projection I saw, but if memory serves it's almost right on the money to his current numbers.
