I hate the NBA...and ESPN

This time of year especially.

I love College Basketball. It is great sport and I love watching it even if I don't have a dog in the fight.

I HATE THE NBA. The "look at me" spectacle of it drives me mad.

My daughter commented the other night "NBA games look like an episode of Gangland, without the dead bodies." And I couldn't agree more. I don't identify with it and it isn't marketed to me.

Worst part? ESPN.

I hate the NBA season. I don't want to watch idiots dunking for 45 minutes. I hate travelling/moving screens/preferential treatment. Hate all of it.

I hate the fact that I have to sit through 45 minutes of shit to get 37 seconds of soccer highlights and maybe 82 seconds of hockey highlights. (And that is only if it involved Ovechkin or Crosby)

It is at this time of year that I wish I lived in Canada or could have TSN on my television. I would prefer 45 minutes of dump and chase, defensive trap, donnybrook highlights. And only have to suffer through <8 minutes of NBA stuff.

I can't even tolerate ESPN during the NBA playoffs. During the Finals? Forget it...

I still like the NBA. I get the Full Court package and watch a ton of games during the season and as much of the playoffs as I can.

Like an episode of Gangland? Yeah, both shows feature a lot of tattoos, but that's the only similarity that occurs to me.

I love both but I wish college basketball would adopt the NBA 3 point line. It would help get rid of the logjam in the middle. I also would prefer 4 quarters. The 24 second shot clock. And also give college players an additional foul. Also I don't care for the 1 and 1 bonus. Basically, I wish the rules were the same as the NBA.

I'd prefer 48 minutes of college basketball, so 4 12 minute quarters. I don't like the running clock. I also wish that in college they could advance the ball to midcourt with a timeout.

I don't think college basketball is a better game really. It's a different game, but I don't think that makes it necessarily better. I love both for different reasons.

The hash marks I'll agree with. They make FGs tougher and give a bit of an advantage to the defense. I do wish college football would get rid of the down player rule is a dead ball even without contact. I hate that rule. I love football though. I feel the same about it as I do the NBA and college basketball. I love each for different reasons because they're different games in many ways.
