I'm shocked to read this article from him that he has started to accept sabermetric stats. The article isn't anything great (largely because it is ridiculously long). He also does misses out of some of the better stats. EqA and Win Shares are glaring omissions.

One of the best websites of all time. The site was hilarious and insightful and exposed the sad state of baseball journalism.

Something funny about that article -- Simmons lists without irony Freddie Lynn's 1975 Gold Glove along with his impressive OPS, VORP, etc.

True sabermetricians agree that Gold Gloves are even less meaningful than batting average. Simmons still doesn't get it.

I am honestly not trying to troll mp into an argument, but do any good teams openly profess the sabermetrics? I know the A's do and they sometimes lose in the first round of the playoffs, what about teams that have been to a world series in the last 10 years?

The Boston Red Sox hired the godfather of statistical analysis, Bill James. The Red Sox hired Theo Epstein after they made an unsuccessful run at Billy Beane. Epstein is not a traditional baseball guy. It is safe to say that the Red Sox openly profess sabermetrics.

The Dodgers also hired Paul DePodesta, Beane's boy and one of the key players in Lewis' Moneyball. He had a good year in '04 and then was fired after a horrible '05. Poor guy is supposed to be played by Jonah Hill in the movie version of the book.
