In what should be a surprise to nobody, Glen "Big Baby" Davis finally woke up this week and realized that his nickname is not only silly, but also self-depricating (kind of like the guy who, for whatever reason, insists that his friends call him "Jerk").

In an effort to compound the problem, he is now sponsoring a new nickname contest via his twitter account. He needs fresh ideas and he needs them now and nothing says "street cred" like begging for a nickname.

I'm going through changes. I'm in a cocoon and I'm coming out a different player, a different person. Basically, the new person is growth. I'm shedding that 'Big Baby' and you can see something else, not the past."

Jim Rome spent a lot of time on this today talking about how Davis wants to go with "Uno-Uno" (his number is 11).

Davis: Call me 'Uno-Uno'

Even Big Baby's tired of "Big Baby." After being fined after an altercation with a heckler in Detroit last week, Glen Davis said he wants to drop his long-standing nickname, and from now on go by 'Uno-Uno.'

"I'm gonna blast that on Facebook and Twitter," he said, half-joking.

Maturity has been an issue for Davis since the start of the season when a fight with a childhood friend left him with a broken hand and kept him out until December. His latest incident, in which he shouted an obscene sexual reference at an unruly fan, just added to that.

"This season's been a huge character builder for me," Davis said.

He said he got advice from Ray Allen, who sits two lockers over from Davis. Allen told him, "The 26-year-old man must think for the 36-year-old man, and the 36-year-old man must think for the 46-year-old man," meaning one has to think about how his decisions affect his future.

Fined for the second time this season, Davis, who signed a two-year, $6.3 million contract over the summer, joked, "It's amazing. You get a contract. Then you get fined and you can't really enjoy it."
