Rick Sutcliffe said tonight that Mcgwires line about protecting his family is ridiculous because the year before he entered the majors the all-star first baseman in 1986 was Wally Joyner, the next 6 years it was Big Mac. He said what about Wallys family? How much money did Mac cost Wally?

Wally used for two weeks, then came clean to his team. IIRC, he confessed in an ESPN/Mag article a few years ago.

The timing is because he was just hired as the Hitting coach for the Cardinals and Tony LaRussa has even thrown out the idea of him pinch hitting. He is most likely out of money and is trying to get back in the good graces of baseball so that he can make a living.

His coming out has EVERYTHING to do with his hitting coach gig. The Cardinals didn't want him to be a distraction once he joined. He could have come clean before the congressional committee.

Naturally his home run title is tainted, BIG TIME.

If what he says is true in regards to the players not receiving immunity, then he did the right thing in not admitting it at the time. I'm pretty surprised that he and others weren't granted ammunity given the circumstancs. Just goes to show that it was more of a witch hunt than it was an effort to get the word out about steroids.

I've said it 1000 times. Baseball has a rich history of cheating and it needs to embrace it. Like it or not, that 98 season saved baseball, and as much as I would like to think it was Cal Ripken, it was far more McGuire and Sosa.

I can't believe there are still some here openly doubting The Oracle on this issue. He has proven to be the most reliable source on the steroid issue, bar none. Nobody else has come close to getting it as right as Canseco.

That he also cheated doesn't make his predictions any less accurate.

Big Mac shot up in the toilet. No doubt. If Canseco says it is true, I am not going to doubt it. Mac already admitted to taking them. Why is not believable that Canseco was the one with the syringe?

Next up: BONDS.

And then we can put asterisks next to everything. I saw a list of the Top 10 HR hitters of all time....4 or 5 were associated with steroids. What a joke.
