I've had many knee surgeries. I don't like pain medication stronger than Tylenol after about 2 days because the pain pills mess with me. They can make it so I can't sleep and feel like I'm losing my mind. After about the last fifth or sixth knee surgery I got frustrated and not in my right mind, I took a Vicodin and an Ambien within about 45 minutes of each other. I woke up on my front lawn with the sprinklers hitting me. I have no idea how or why I was there. I did tell my parents that I was taking the meds or I wouldn't have known I had taken both. I have never taken an Ambien since.

I've had pain medication do weird stuff as well. Frankly I have no problem buying Tiger's explanation.

If Taylor Made was smart they put in a morality clause in his contract so they can get away from this deal and him.

This makes me sad. My uncle was one of Tiger's favorite high school teachers, and my uncle often bragged about Tiger being the model high school student. Tiger's not a bad dude, but I think we underestimate how big a toll golf has taken on his body and mind.

When I heard this news, I guess it didn't surprise me. I do wonder if it was the back issues that really have hurt him both on and off the golf course. I guess I'm coming around to the fact that he likely would have never beat Jack's major record even without all the drama since he likely wouldn't have stayed healthy enough...but still, his personal life is a mess.

I just finished watching Jack, the three part series on the golf channel about Jack Nicklaus' life and career. He was an incredible golfer, but is an even more incredible person. He didn't allow his fame and fortune to corrupt him. Instead, he found ways to use it to benefit his family, golf, and many children through his charities.

It's sad to see that Tiger hasn't able to handle his life in even a similar way.

"The surgery went well, and I'm optimistic this will relieve my back spasms and pain," Woods said in a statement on his website. I think he should just be honest with himself and say he's done. He's had a twenty year run and he was never going to play the Senior Tour.

L5-S1 fusion. Yuck. Better than a multi-level, of course, but any lumbar fusion is going to be really tough to come back from for a golfer, IMO. I wonder if hostile has any thoughts.

Woods won five events in 2013 and was named PGA Tour Player of the Year. Since then, he has as many top-25 finishes as back surgeries.
