For all of you that think Tiger is back, do you think Tiger thinks he is back?

Van Pelt totally choked on the par 5. He's sitting 2 next to the green, and Tiger is laying 4 over the back of the green. Tiger's ball is 8 feet below the putting surface and on the short side. He is almost assured of a bogey. All Van Pelt has to do to take the lead with two holes to go is put the chip on the green and two putt. Instead, he gets cute, and leaves it short of the green and still in the rough. What an idiot.

Be nice. I've personally witnessed golfers go from a possible eagle (or at worst,a likely birdie) to a double bogey or worse, on par 5s at the end of a round. It happens to the even the best players.

Speaking of which, had my first eagle of the year, last week.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread or not. But I just read that Tiger has won a jaw-dropping 27% of PGA tour events, he has played in. In comparison, Jack won 12% and Arnie 8%. That is one of the more impressive Tiger stats (other than his Waffle House waitress percentage), I've heard of.

In his last 9 tournaments: three wins and one second place finish. He's back. The whole "not until he wins another major" thing is just an arbitrary bunch of nonsense that is classic talk radio mumbo jumbo.

It's mildly interesting that his three wins have been at tournaments hosted by Arnie, Jack and himself.

I was thinking the same thing. He has clearly regained position as one of the best players playing today, something I didn't think he would do. I imagine the Skip Bayless types will say he isn't Tiger again until he wins a major.

Well, he's not, right? The old Tiger won 14 majors. We were talking Jack Nicklaus, not Sam Snead (who was actually my dad's favorite player).

You're right that he's one of the best players playing, even one of the best ever. But he set a pretty high mark that's going to be tough to regain. A victim of his own success.

So Tiger is the first 3-time winner this season and now #1 in the Fedex Cup standings. I cant wait for tomorrows sports radio with all the "Tiger is back" talk . If he fails to win next week at Greenbrier it will be "Tiger will never win another major" or "He'll never be the old Tiger". Why do we have to compare him to what he has done previously in his career? I enjoy watching Tiger play. He hits some amazing shots and I think he is beneficial to the game. Why does he have to win another major to really be "back'? How many wins will it take? What if he gets back to number 1 in the world but doesn't win a major? What if he breaks Sam Snead's record of 82 PGA wins? Is he then still a failure?
