If ever there was a season for Gil to do this, it is this one. If the Zards can void his contract and move one of their two big name players Jamison or Butler, all of the sudden they are major players in the free agent market.

I'm glad he is suspended indefinitely. As Kornheiser said on PTI, here is a guy who just doesn't get it. This could be a Plaxico-like situation where Arenas is made an example and does jail time.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Apparently there is a whole other layer to this story as reported in the Washington Post today. Witnesses say that Critendon was furious at losing in a card game on the team plane. After a back and forth of threats with Arenas, Arenas placed 4 unloaded guns in Critenden's locker area and said "I just figured if you wanted to shoot me, I'd make it easier on you." Critenden then threw one of the guns across the room and told Arenas he didn't need one of Arenas' guns, he had his own. Then he pulled his gun out and pulled back the mechanism, loading a round into the barrel.

This thing is far from over. The Sports Junkies said this morning that Arenas should get 5 games. That's optimistic.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them out for the rest of the season.

Check out this youtube video of a bet with Deshawn Stevenson over three point shots. It's been a while since I watched the whole thing, but I remember thinking Arenas took things too far with his needling. Same thing apparently spurred this whole fiasco.

Why has there been little discussion in the media or with Stern re: Critendon? He allegedly had a gun, as well. Zero's online bravado aside, isn't Critendon also violating rules that prohibit guns in the workplace?

Maybe I have missed it, but it seems that all the articles i have read only discuss Arenas.

This article from MSNBC provides some very interesting details on how things may have gone down in the locker room.

              http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/347395...shington_post/

              The highlight from the article:

The dispute between Arenas and Crittenton began on the team plane during a popular card game between players called "Boo-ray." Crittenton lost roughly $1,100 to JaVale McGee, a Wizards center, in the game, according to a player who watched the game and who also spoke on condition of anonymity. Crittenton, already angry over a dispute over the game's rules, became irate when Arenas began needling him.

Their barbs escalated to a point where Arenas, smiling, said he would blow up Crittenton's car, according to two players on the flight, who requested anonymity. Crittenton replied that he would shoot Arenas in his surgically repaired knee.

Walking into the locker room by himself two days after the dispute on the team plane, according to two witnesses, Arenas laid out the guns in Crittenton's locker. Two other teammates eventually sauntered in and, while Arenas was writing the note in front of Crittenton's cubicle, in walked Crittenton, according to their account.

Asking Arenas what he was doing, Arenas replied, "If you want to shoot me, I'd just thought I'd make it easy for you." As other teammates laughed, Crittenton crumpled up the paper, tossed one of Arenas's guns across the room, where it bounced in front of a team trainer, and said he didn't need any of Arenas' firearms because he had his own, according to the witness accounts.

Crittenton then drew his weapon, loaded the clip into the chamber and cocked the bar, the witnesses said.

Neither witness said the gun was ever pointed at Arenas, but both said Crittenton began singing as he held the gun.

Arenas began laughing, the witnesses said, telling Crittenton, "Look at that little shiny gun," as two other players slowly retreated to the training room.

Any thoughts on what Crittendon might have been singing? I'm thinking this could be an entirely different thread filled with your genius, but right now I am too timid to offer anything up to get the ball rolling.

Maybe he was singing something off this album:

I'd say, at a minimum, Arenas is suspended for the remainder of the season. Possibly an expulsion from the league.

Also, I believe the reason Crittendon isn't getting the same attention as Arenas is because he hasn't been publicly mocking the situation like Agent Hibachi has. In light of the recent developments in the story, though, I'm sure Crittendon will get a hefty suspension as well.

I wouldnt mind if Stern dropped the hammer to set an example.

A permanent expulsion would seem extreme, esp since the latest allegations seem to indicate that Zero never really even pulled a gun on anyone. His mistake, besides carrying unloaded guns, was mocking David Stern.

Crittendon seems to have to answer to the po-lice as well as the league, as he pulled a loaded gun on someone.

Crittendon should be given a bit of slack, as he was a key piece that allowed the Lakers to bring Pow to LA from Memphis. Hopefully Stern takes that into consideration.

PS how do you play "boo-ray?" It might be fun to learn that game.

One of the articles states that Arenas was trying to protect young Crittenden...looks like he ain't doing that anymore.

Crittendon was the one singing from Shiny Toy Guns, actually.

                                Zero was probably singing this:
