    Austin Collie: Magic Happening?

AC having a nice rookie season. Had another nice game today, including 1 TD and 2 great catches on that 4Q drive.

Magic happened for AC on draft day. He was very lucky to go to the Colts and play for such a great QB. He looks like he might develop into a solid NFL player. Still early to tell, but did anyone think he would be doing as well as he is doing at this point?

He has found the perfect fit. Last month Peter King had a good article on how Collie has been working well with Manning.

I would have to imagine that Peyton Manning is the dream QB for any receiver. Good for Collie to land is such a great place to showcase his talents.

Magic happened. He couldn't have landed in a better situation. They let Harrison go. Gonzales got hurt early. So he got an opportunity to play. And he's maximized his opportunities. He's the perfect fit for that offense. He's been incredibly productive as a rookie. I think he'll have a nice career.

He leads all rookie receivers in receptions and Tds and is 5th in yards.

I agree that he landed in a good situation but if he couldnt play then Peyton would not be throwing him the ball. I give Austin a lot of credit for working as hard as he is to become a key contributor on a superbowl contender.

He should get serious consideration for Offensive Rookie of the year. I think Harvin will win it but Collie should get some votes.

In other BYU related news, Bryan Kehl got the start for the Giants tonight.

First series he was trucked at the goal line by Brent Celek.

Second series he was stiff armed to the ground by Mike Vick on a TD run.

Since then he has been solid, including knocking down a pass at the line of scrimmage and hitting Mcnabb a few times.

In an article in SI earlier this year, they were very pleased with his work ethic and intensity. He is spending his down-time before practice studying film with Manning and after practice running routes. The best thing he could have done is to show Manning that he is the hardest working reciever on that team.

So Bronco has nearly cycled through all the super studs he inherited, Hall, Pitta, George, Collie, Unga, etc. You've seen his first five year arc. A new generation is at hand. Are you guys satisfied? Did Bronco get the most out of his talents?

LaVell never had four consecutive seasons with at least 10 wins. Given that and given the relative dearth of NFL talent that's emerged from the last five years, I would say the answer is yes.

I was focusing on Brian a lot last night. To say he got trucked is right on the money. I also saw some very light tackling attempts on a few plays. His greatest asset continues to be his lateral quickness and freakish length but he definitely needs to hit harder if he expects to get off of the all-time special teams. He's a solid contributor and always hustles to the ball.

This is an amazing magic carpet ride.

I keep seeing replays of Austin's amazing TD catch yesterday and am pretty amazed that he is now one game away from being a key contributor to a Superbowl champ.

In Peyton's post-game presser, he specifically mentioned that Collie showed no signs of being phased by the pressure in common rookie fashion.

I know that we have had other BYU Cougars win Superbowls, but has BYU ever had a rookie have such an impact and go on to win a Superbowl in his first NFL season?

Could you imagine if that guy had stuck around? Yowza.

That would have been the worst case scenario for him. The fact that he landed in a perfect situation for him in Indy is amazing. Another great year for him at BYU wouldn't benefit him any more than this year that he has put together.

I was happy to see him step up to the plate and deliver. Time and time again on that drive that set the tone for the comeback. The fact that he has the trust of a controlling HOF QB as a rookie is a testament of his ability and diligence.
