Sure, MLB has a luxury tax, but New York and Boston thumb their nose at it. Interesting that the NBA has both a luxury tax and a cap.
In favor of salary caps?

Perhaps when Barney Frank and the President get done capping CEO's compensation they will then move to capping sports and entertainers income.Originally posted by scottie View PostSure, MLB has a luxury tax, but New York and Boston thumb their nose at it. That would be pretty cool. If you capped what the CEO's can make and the athletes and entertainers make, maybe they would give the extra money back to the fans or pay the ushers more.
Everything Barney and Barak are for isn't so bad.

The NFL and NHL are great with a salary cap, but MLB is great without a salary cap, too.
When push comes to shove, I suppose I prefer a cap, but I don't feel strongly about it."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

I spoke with a Yankees fan a couple days ago and he admitted that rooting for a team that outspends the rest of the field by a wide margin isn't all that fun. They're supposed to win it all, and when they don't, it's a major disappointment. Yet when they do, it's not all that great because they were supposed to win.
I found that interesting.

This is what has killed my interest in baseball. As a kid baseball was my favorite sport, probably because it was the one I was most proficient in.Originally posted by Surfah View PostMy biggest gripe with MLB is the way the top players today are nothing more than mercenaries. There is no team loyalty. Wins are sold to the highest bidder.
Back when I was a kid your favorite players played on your favorite teams forever. I can still name the starting lineup for the Brooklyn Bums and several of their pitchers. I don't know which year, because it was the same, year after year.
