Which NFL team will move to LA?

The final hurdle has supposedly been overcome and the LA Stadium is going to be built (City of Industry).

Which team is going to come to LA? Will it change its name? The Los Angeles 49ers just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

It should be the Raiders, and no, they shouldn't change their name. Raiders or the Rams, but I don't see the Rams moving right now.

I started with the 49ers on franchise mode on Madden 2004 about six years ago (holy hell that was a long time ago). After several seasons and building up some money, I moved the team down to LA, changed the color scheme of the uniforms to red, white and green and renamed the team the LA Mexicans (this is much less offensive than the Redskins, so why couldn't I get away with it?). Low and behold the blunt attempt to appeal to the hispanic population didn't seem to have the same effect on the approval and popularity of the team as winning did. Apparently Madden just doesn't have the AI written into the code to adjust for efforts of a team to appeal to a certain ethnic community.

Oddly enough, I would be upset if the 49ers left San Francisco, eventhough I really have no strong local ties to the area (my ties that I do have are to Oakland, and I am advocating that the Raiders move... go figure). Probably not upset enough to switch allegiances, but not happy with it.

I thought there were plans to build a new stadium in Santa Clara? The 49ers would have to change its name. You can't be the Los Angeles 49ers. The Utah Jazz, Arizona Cardinals -- those are bad, but the LA 49ers would possibly be worse. Due to the history term 49er, the 49ers can only be in the bay area (or Sacramento, I guess).

The Los Angeles Bengals has a nice ring to it, no?

Not quite as nice as the Los Angeles Bengals of Pocatello.

Interesting design.. Seems like it's a throwback stadium with all the modern amenities. I don't really see where the suites will be, however. Will all the suites and press be in that huge press box looking structure? It looks like a mix between the old Tampa Stadium and the Olympic stadium in Munich...

Interesting that the Rams are in the lead. It does make a lot of sense given the fact that their lease is up in 2012 and the team is for sale. If the Chargers can do okay in San Diego, a single Los Angeles team will do just fine.
