I think the NFL is making a wise move by blocking Rush Limbaugh's attempt to buy the St. Louis Rams. The NBA can be picky about who they allow to buy a franchise and it isn't wise taking the potential public relations nightmare that comes with Rush.

24 of the 32 owners have to approve the sale. Do you really think he can get a majority like that? We already know that one owner is going to vote no. It also sounds like Arthur Blank is in the no camp. That is 2 of the 9 that need to vote against it.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI dont think the NFL is doing anything to block it, it is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
Money talks, so if Rush and Checketts give the best offer Rush will own a team. In fact bold prediction: 3 years from now Rush will own the Rams and his QB will be Donovan Mcnabb. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I'd be ok if the NFL blocks him from owning a franchise if the league will be consistent and block a guy like Olbermann from owning a franchise as well."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

I think you could count on a "no" vote out of Pittsburgh as well. No way would the Rooney's fight so hard for minority interviewing/hiring rules and then vote for Rush to own a team.Originally posted by mpfunk View Post24 of the 32 owners have to approve the sale. It sounds like it's a dead deal, anyway.

How long has it been since he made his comments? 4, maybe 5 years?"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

6 years, actually.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostHow long has it been since he made his comments? 4, maybe 5 years?
Regardless of his comments that are specifically about the NFL or its players, he's a divisive and controversial figure. What made him rich and influential enough to afford a share in an NFL team is what will ultimately prevent him from owning one."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

I'll modify it and say Michael Vick as his QB.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI dont think the NFL is doing anything to block it, it is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Donovan is "Over..... The Hill"....
I bet you thought I was going to say "Overrated"...

Sadly they let a former Drug Addict remain as an owner but an outspoke talk show host is nto allowed??Originally posted by Teenage Dirtbag View PostI think you could count on a "no" vote out of Pittsburgh as well. It is stupid if you ask me..
Add comment: Sheesh. I need to read further down to see people have answered this question before posting...

This is unfortunate. It would be great fun to watch Limbaugh run the Rams. I think the PR disaster element is overstated. The guy is still the most popular talk radio host in the country and for a good reason. He's great entertainment. I'm not a dittohead, but I usually listen to a few minutes of Rush on the way to lunch as I flip through the AM dial and he makes me laugh.
When it comes down to it, the NFL is a spectator sport. It's not a hospital, it's not a government, it's not a military. It's entertainment and I think having Limbaugh in the mix would make it even more entertaining.

Rush Limbaugh would make a 2nd former drug addict to own an NFL team. Maybe they don't want a combo of a former drug addict and outspoken talk show host.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostSadly they let a former Drug Addict remain as an owner but an outspoke talk show host is nto allowed??

No I wouldn't say I hate Rush Limbaugh. I would say that I think he is a blowhard and I dislike the form of political rhetoric that he uses. I also love to troll Rush Limbaugh fans. Not on this site, but on other sites.Originally posted by JohnnyLingo View Postfunk, would you say you hate Rush Limbaugh? As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

They need to come up with rules that can remove an owner from having any management authority over the team or requiring the sale of his interest in the team.
Have you guys seen Antonio Pierce's comments about the Raiders? Holy hell that's bad. The scary thing is that Al Davis's mother lived to be over a hundred and I think Davis is still in his early 80s.
Davis was a brilliant football mind from the 60s through the 80s, now he's just totally nuts. The Raiders were one of the premier teams up until the 90s and they still have a valuable trademark. Without Davis, that team could move to virtually any sizeable market and eventually succeed.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
