  • Ranking the ideal outcomes of the MLB Playoffs

I have no team that I like in the playoffs, but there are definitely teams I would rather see not win. Here is my list of worst case scenario to best case scenario

    1) Dodgers
    2) Cardinals
    3) Red Sox
    4) Yankees
    5) Phillies
    6) Rockies
    7) Angels
    8) Tigers/Twins (doesn't matter which either way I would be happy)

Despite the fact that the Angels are a division rival of the A's, I'm kind of pulling for them in the World Series playoffs. I really respect the shift in the organizations focus this year. The Angels have really improved their offense by learning a patient approach at the plate. It is no coincidence that their offense is finally producing now that they are taking pitches and have a high OBP.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if the Angels won it because of the Bees. My boys get a kick out of seeing players they watched in person playing at Spring Mobile Park.

The Yankees and Dodgers are the evil empires. I will root for them both to be swept.

The Phillies, Red Sox and Cardinals have recent titles, so I'd like to see one of the other teams nab one. Parity is good. Amongst them, the Rockies, Tigers, and Angels all have recent World Series appearances, albeit losses. The Twins are the only johnny-come-lately's in this party.

              Preferred pecking order:
              Twins
              Angels
              Tigers
              Rockies
              Cardinals
              Red Sox
              Phillies
              Dodgers
              Yankees

My rankings of which team in the playoffs that I'd rather see win it this year:

                1. Any team but the frickin' Yankees.

The Dodgers haven't been to the Series since 1988. What's so evil about them?

Nevertheless, it's inconceivable that the Lord's team could be considered evil.

Growing up in the era of the Big Blue Wrecking Crew, there were only two priorities every season:

                    1. Root against the Giants in the regular season (this was easy because they were pathetic battery chuckers that never won until the late 80s)
                    2. Root against the Yankees (this was more difficult because they were rad and always beat the Dodgers, except in 1981, when Bob Watson popped up to Ken Landreaux, sealing the WS for the Blue and kick-starting by obsession with sports).

My baseball priorities have mostly remained unchaged......until a few years ago.

I never thought I would say this, because true Dodgers fans will always hate the Yankees. In fact, I am not even sure you can be a true Dodger fan unless you were able to experience at least one WS loss at the hands of the Bronx Bombers.....but.......

                    My new, updated list:

                    1. Root against the Giants
                    2. Root against insufferable poser, bandwagon Red Sox fans and stupid people everywhere across the country with their brand new Red Sox hat, sweatshirt, or car decal. ("I'm a fan....I once had a layover in Boston. I've loved the team ever since!")
                    3. Root against the Yankees

So there it is. I would rather the Yankees win than the Red Sox. There has been a divergence in the baseball cosmos. The Yankees are no longer the most hated AL team for this Dodgers fan.
                    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Well said. I can't believe I pulled for the Red Sox in '04. I still feel dirty just thinking about it.
