Makes sense, but it seems to me that while it's reasonable for Orlando to like Exum at 4, that is based mostly on the idea that Embiid, Parker and Wiggins are already off the board. I'd have to think that if Philly were to take Vonleh at 3, Orlando would be thrilled to have a shot at Wiggins or Parker at 4. All of a sudden Exum and Smart don't look so sexy right there.I'm like LeBron James.

Some GMs thing Exum is the top talent in the draft, allegedly. So it is not only based on the other 3 being gone. I have no real basis for thinking Orlando would pass on Parker/Wiggins, I was only pointing out that I'd gladly give up assets to move up that single spot in that case. Teams pass up top talent almost every year in the draft, so it's not way out to think that one of the big 3 drops to 5.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostMakes sense, but it seems to me that while it's reasonable for Orlando to like Exum at 4, that is based mostly on the idea that Embiid, Parker and Wiggins are already off the board. Examples:
Chris Paul was the consensus #1 for a year until just before the draft. Then 2 teams decided Bogut and Marvin Williams were the better pick. A 3rd team made a terrible move and traded down to 6 while a 4th team drafted Deron Williams. Paul is 4th, but everyone thought he was #1 all year.
Cleveland drafts Anthony Bennet last year. It was a remarkably weak draft, but many had Bennet available at #10. #5 and 6 this year would have been #1 last year easily. Best draft since 2003.

No doubt anything can happen. I was just trying to understand your thought process.I'm like LeBron James.

Interview with Walt Perrin:
Q: What is the possibility of bringing in the top five or six players projected for this year’s draft in the nest three weeks?
A: “I think it’s going to be tough to get the top three players (Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid) in. Beyond that, I think I can get most of them in. I may also have problems with players projected from 12 through 20. One, because agents don’t think we’re going to take them at five, and two, they don’t think they’re going to fall to 23. Three, we’ve got a young team and good players at every position. There’s always trades, and we always tell them that. Also, guys in those positions (12 through 20) are doing eight to 10 workouts, and agents don’t want them to work out more than eight times, so it’s tough. The dates are so compacted and they don’t want them to do back-to-backs. You can only do so many in a 30-day time frame..I just assumed Neto was coming over this year for sure, after how disappointed he was last year that he didn't get to join last year's team. And I don't think he's playing on a great team.Q: You have a couple of foreign players you drafted in the past, Ante’ Tomic in 2008 and Raul Neto last year. What is their status?
A: Both have had pretty good years, and Tomic is on one of the better teams in Europe. We’re at the point with him where we’re trying to make that decision (whether to buy out his contract). With Raul, we’re not sure, we haven’t talked about it yet what we may want to do in terms of bringing him over this year or keeping him there for another year.
Could they Jazz trade Tomic as soon as a buyout and new NBA contract were signed?

So basically the Jazz will have Exum, Randle, Smart, Vonleh, Gordon and McDermott in. Sounds like the chances Saric comes over this year are slim.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostInterview with Walt Perrin:

Just waiting until Boylen is done with the playoffs. So yeah, before the draft.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostAre the Jazz going to have a coach before they draft? Don't think so. They've said since the beginning that they could go into the draft without a coach.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostAre the Jazz going to have a coach before they draft? Griffin has been in for his second interview, and paper claims Snyder is also a leading candidate. There's supposedly a third guy that has really progressed in the interview process but the name hasn't been floated yet.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

So not Boylen or Messina. Gentry? No report yet of an interview with Longabardi, right?Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDon't think so. They've said since the beginning that they could go into the draft without a coach.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8...es-in-mix.htmlSALT LAKE CITY — Beehive State basketball fans who've fretted about former University of Utah coach Jim Boylen being hired as the Jazz's next head coach can take a deep breath.
Boylen, a close friend of Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey, is no longer in the running to replace Tyrone Corbin as Utah's bench boss, according to multiple sources.
Former Missouri coach Quin Snyder, longtime NBA coach Alvin Gentry and Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin remain the leading candidates to become the Jazz's fifth coach since the organization left New Orleans in 1979. They all had second interviews with Utah brass this week.
Another mystery candidate is also set to be interviewed by the Jazz, according to sources. His identity is being guarded tightly by Utah management.
Boylen was considered an early front runner after Lindsey and the Millers opted to not renew Corbin's contract going forward. Boylen worked with the Jazz GM in Houston and has remained tight with Lindsey over the years.
Boylen coached the Utes for four years, going 69-60 and making one NCAA tournament appearance (2009) before being fired in 2011.
His NBA coaching resume includes stints with Michigan State, the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and the Spurs. He is currently the lead assistant for NBA coach of the year Gregg Popovich in San Antonio, which is about to take on Miami in the NBA Finals. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
