Cougs needed a backdoor sweep to take out FSU (no TV), then beat Fl Gulf Coast in 4 today.
PROS
They ran a 6-2. I love this. Bower is amazing, but she’s a liability as a front row setter. Not sure if they’ll continue to do this all season, but I hope they do.
The team demeanor seemed different. Ok stead is a great coach. But she’s really hard on some players (others fed off the intensity).
Claire Chambers is a beast.
Burgess is a beast.
Brook Hardy (Fr MB) will be a cheat code. She’s short for a middle but has pogo sticks for legs and is an awesome server.
Lulu (forgot her married name) passed very well. She’s always been good at digs. Nice to see her progress.
it’d a damn shame Callahan isn’t 2 inches taller. She’ll remain streaky. I had hoped to see a big jump in Mortensen on the left side from her freshman year. Serviceable, but her real value may BE saving subs as a 6 rotation player if we stick with the 6-2.
right now this looks like a 20-30 ranked team. Should be playoff bound. A s16 appearance is probably the high water mark.
