Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

That sounds like a great ride and for a good cause. Its a little disappointing they save the easiest climb for the last. Why not flip the route around and do little cottonwood last?

Allow me to pile on... I've mentioned the Devil Mountain Double, a double century in April that includes several truly nasty climbs, the worst of which comes around mile 150 and goes up Sierra Road in San Jose. That stretch really got to several riders in the Tour of California last spring. The ride is just over 200 miles and over 20,000 feet of climbing. Needless to say, a substantial number of those beginning the ride do not finish, but many do.

As we were doing one of the climbs Saturday, Mrs. PAC and I agreed that we would be happy to host CUF cyclists (including Archaea) for the DMD weekend. We have room for three couples; each would have their own bedroom and bath, not to mention fine food and personalized SAG support courtesy of the PAC family. We live ten minutes from the start and finish of the event. The date for 2010 hasn't been set yet, but keep it in mind. I would, of course, require a waiver that I will not be held responsible for whatever pain or loss may result from participation....

Day 2 starts 5 minutes on the bike from my house. That would be awesome and yet so painful at the same time. I think I would only be up for one day of craziness, but who knows. Maybe 2 years down the road...

I can illustrate my answer to this question with a snowball and acetylene torch.

But we've done most of the ride in pieces, except for Diablo, Morgan Territory Road and Sierra Road. We'll do the first two of those in the very near future, but I seriously doubt I'll ever try to ride up Sierra.

morgan territory is a greta ride. ALmost as much climbing as Diablo, but the last time I was out there the road was stilln ot fixed all the wway through so you have bikes only on the steep bits and it si great to do it that way.

I have yet to go back up Diablo this summer; I want to do it again soon. Sierra? ha ha ha. Not me.
                      PLesa excuse the tpyos.
