  • Nebo prep ride...take deaux (Aug 29th)

Wondering if anyone wants to do a Nebo prep ride this weekend? Could make one last major push to catch the "touchy" runners, and also get prepared for the Nebo loop in a couple weeks?

Calling out the same cast of characters (plus anyone else):
JL, BBB, Sass, mtn, Coach, bella....

Route is a TBD...whoever has the best suggestion.

Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

I will be camping Friday night (on the Nebo loop!). I would love to do a ride, but couldn't do anything until early afternoon.

I won't be doing the Nebo ride, but I'd be happy to join a group Saturday. I'm afraid I don't have any good suggestions, though.

Dude, last time you suggested a ride, we went along and got wind in our face for 40-50 miles riding ULCER while you crapped out on us.

But we might be willing to forgive you. We were hoping to get in a good ride on Saturday, anyway.

To tell you the truth, we often base our rides depending on which way the wind is blowing. We try to start off into the wind so we'll have a tailwind on the way home. But the wind tends to be fickle and blow in different directions along the way, anyway.

Are you thinking of riding on the flats, or getting some hill climbs in? If BBB's coming in from the north, we could possibly meet around Thanksgiving Pt. and ride part of the (flat) ULCER route.

That's fine with me. I'm hoping I'll be going down to Orem & UVRMC after the ride so don't let my geography factor too much into your plans. I'm all for a long, flat stretch in a group though. Both for the miles and because I rarely get to ride with more than two or three people in the group. If you want to work on climbing in prep for Nebo, that's something I would probably be well-served doing as well.

I know that area pretty good actually. If you want, we could start at Thanksgiving point area, go West past the prison, southbound down Redwood road, loop over to Eagle Mountain, down through Lehi, and up over to Timpanogos Cave (Canyon) and back down.

Depending on how we felt, we could either go straight back from the canyon to up and over Suncrest Hill and then over to Thanksgiving point.

Bit of both worlds...some flats and rollers, and some moderate climing to Timp Cave and some good climbing over Suncrest if we wanted. Not sure how long of a ride that would be but I'm thinking somewhere over 50+ miles.

If Redwood Road is not desireable...we could always ride the Jordan River Trail to Utah Lake which is nice...but very curvy so you can't get going to awefully fast.

My vote would be for the trail, but that's just me.

Well, being the cripple in the group with broken toes on one foot and and needing joint surgery on the other foot my vote would be for a flat ride. Hammering on the pedals, climbing hills (which I've done this week) has proven to be painful.

Ok, I'll put together some kind of route and post it tonight. Saturday, 8am at Thanksgiving Point?

JL...won't be the same without ya.

Ok...how is this for a route:

                          http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/mn...25147053976687

I had to approximate the route down the Redwood Road area...they didn't have the Jordan River Trail there but it follows the river from Camp Williams down to Utah Lake.

It's just around 35 miles. If we want to lengthen it any, then we can do an out-and-back up to Timp Cave...it's an easy climb (even for me), very gradual, and it will add another 15-20 miles to our route. We could evaluate where we stand at that time.

I'm thinking to start around 8am (earlier the better for me as I have a Hogle Zoo trip planned with the little Borg)....

Thoughts? Who can make it? Are we on?

Looks great to me. We'll be there. You can start as early as you like--we usually get out between 6:30 and 7 so anything 8 am or earlier will be peachy.
