The other day RC said that it is important to keep the chain clean and lubed. What is a good way to go about cleaning a chain?

Ater every ride or at least every other ride in good weather and non dusty conditions I try to wipe off my chain and maybe hit it with alittle degreaser before wiping. Every now and then (how's that for aprecise interval?) which I determine by chain appearance or simple time, I will clean it with a good degreaser or de-luber (I ususally use that orange smelling stuff you buy in a spray can) and an old tooth brush. If I have to take the chain off for some reason I will give it a solvent bath.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThe other day RC said that it is important to keep the chain clean and lubed. And how often do you need to clean your chain?
EDIT: Nevermind, I see devil monkey has answered this question. There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

For what it's worth...Trek of American Fork....tech told me to clean the chain after appx 100 miles. However, I've been exposed on here already about blindly following advise from techs.
(However, after 100 miles, and viewing the condition of my chain...I have since followed that and am pretty happy about the new "clean chain" discipline I've employed)."Newton's First Law of Motion: ...things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion, tend to stay in motion...."
Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.
