    Sunglasses for Riding

I'm in need of a pair of sunglasses for riding my bike. I have a pair of cheap sunglasses I wore last time out, but they fogged up so much I had to take them off. I think I paid $20 for them on a cruise a while back, so they obviously weren't made for exercising.

I'd prefer to not break the bank (probably won't spend over $200) but want a good pair that will help block out the sun and also give my eyes some protection from bugs/wind. I've never really paid over $20 for sunglasses so I have no baseline to start from, which makes choosing a pair very difficult. Any suggestions?

I would go cheap. I have thought about getting a pair with the multiple lenses to change out. That way you have some for low light and during the main part of the day. Like this: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes...80_-1___000000

I have some tifosi glasses. About $40. They fit well, no scratches despite me dropping them a few times. I think they have some with interchangeable lenses, which I agree with bigpiney would have been more useful than I thought when first looking at them.

Interesting. I was just looking at a similar pair and thought the ability to change out lenses would be great. I tend to ride early morning so I don't always need the full sunglass effect. Having the option to have clear lenses would be very good.

Ha...I didn't even look at the link before I posted. I guess tifosi does offer interchangeable lenses. And bigpiney is smarter than I thought.

I have some Native sunglasses that I really like. They come up on steepandcheap.com fairly frequently for about $40. They're comfortable and have interchangeable lenses.

I've always ridden with Briko. I'm not even sure if they still make sunglasses. They're more expensive and don't have interchangeable lenses like everything else posted in this thread, so not really sure why I'm posting.

Not sure how I should take that.

Anyway, because I am cheap, I don't actually have a pair of those, but as a finders fee...

When the more seasoned riders (ER & BP) are going cheap, there's no way I'm going to shell out the money for Oakley or Nike brand glasses. This thread has likely saved me some cash. Next time I'm in Utah or Cali I'll use it to buy you guys lunch.

I can't wear contact lenses, so I wear prescription sunglasses. For years I'd wear my regular prescription sunglasses for riding and running, but they're not "swept" and wind was always a problem. Then I found a pair at Performance (they carry the Performance label but I think they're a Tifosi OEM model) that are great. They have the interchangeable lenses, but I can snap in a prescription lens insert that's invisible on the outside, so I look totally cool (hey, everything's relative) but I can see, too. The sunglasses were around $70 and the Kaiser optical department did the insert for under $100.

Wind is no longer a problem as I race down hills trying to catch up with BigPiney, Mrs. PAC, etc.

It's a bit of a hit-and-miss site since it's just one deal at a time. So if you're looking for something soon, it may or may not work out. However, you can still find good deals on Native at the parent site, backcountry.com, and even Amazon.

Here's a pretty nice set of Smiths. They are a little more than the Tifosis, but I've always liked the Smiths I've owned. I just can't seem to find my lenses for them.

I haven't ordered them yet, but I'm going to try the Tifosi Podium. They don't have the frame piece across the top, which allows for better vision in the aero position. They're less expensive than the similar Smith and Oakley models.
