  • Planned Century or Organized rides in 2009

Would love to know what century/tours/organized rides everyone is planning on doing this year in 2009, and to get a ride report after it's over.

I am always interested in new rides and look forward to all the reports etc.

So far, in 2009, I am planning on:

May 16 - Salt Lake Century
    June 13 - MS 150 in Logan
June 20 - Tour de Cure in Brigham City

...that's the 'planned' ones so far.

    Anyone else?

Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

Desperado Dual on August 22nd. I did this last year and enjoyed the ride immensely, excluding the heat exhaustion. A very, very, well supported ride.

Coach are you doing the 100 or 200 mile ride. I think Arch talked about doing this one.

I truly have not decided yet, so I have held off on registering. I would love to do the 200 since the two loops are completely different terrain, but I have a ways to go before I would feel comfortable. Arch talked about doing it last year too, as a tune up for LOTOJA, but I think he had something come up. Did Arch get into LOTOJA with you?

He didn't put in this year but has plans to do it next year. We are trying to do a ride together this year and this may be a possibility. That climb at the start of the second loop looks pretty nasty.

Desperado Dual looks interesting....200 miles. Hmmmm....I'd like to do a 200 mile ride to see if I could do it. I'd like to do the LOTOJA but, am pretty intimidated by the time/weather/3 mtn passes and getting swept by the SAG!

Have actually thought about doing the Seattle-to-Portland (STP) as a prep ride before I do that....but maye the Desperado Dual would suffice and is closer.

Have to admit...I'm not a land burner as far as speed goes...so the 200 miles is a bit daunting for me....but, I'd like to do it one day.

Had a friend do the ratpod last year. Have you done that one before? If so...give us a review? Looks like a very picturesque ride.

I missed last year but a friend and myself did it two years ago. Their is a beautiful stretch through the pioneer mountains that is as nice as it gets. Smooth road and no tracffic at all.

Not much planned for me this year.

I had my century last weekend and I have an epic ride around Lake Tahoe scheduled (in ink on the calendar) for the last weekend in July.

I'll be in Utah for the 4th of July this year and would like to do some riding either on the road or the dirt at some point.

Other than that, its mostly just weekend group rides and the occasional Wednesday night race for me.

I think you've got this thing down. This is where I'd like to be in the near future. Have a riding group to hang with and do weekly rides...and maybe one or two major event/rides selectively chosen.

Just need to find a cool riding group out there. Anyone have a cool riding group in Utahhrr county?
