  • What do you know about Lite Speed bikes?

My neighbor across the street is cleaning out his garage and he's offered to make me a good deal on one of his used bikes. This is what he sent me today in an email...

I have a couple of road bikes, I can give you more details if interested:

Colnago Bicycle ( hand-built Italian frame), Cro Molly frame, Mavic Wheels, index shifting, Carbon Fiber Fork

Lite Speed Bicycle, Titanium and Carbon Fiber Frame, deep dish wheels, All Dura Ace Components, Carbon Fiber Fork, lots of Carbon components
They are both the right size for me. Would one be better than the other? I'll probably ride both this evening to see which I like better.

I don't know much about Colnago, other than they are supposed to be very good bikes. There is nothing in there about the components. Any idea what they typically use?

The litespeed looks like a very good bike. Good, sturdy, light-weight frame, with top notch components. I've heard mixed feelings on the deep dish wheels. Some love them, others feel like they make riding in the wind very difficult. Almost as if they act like a sail in a cross wind. One friend recently "downgraded" his deep dish wheelset for this very reason and he has been happy with the change. But I wouldn't necessarily let this stop you. If he is willing to make you a good deal, I don't think that you can go wrong with it.

Buy them both and keep the Litespeed like it is for your rides and turn the Colongo into a nice fixie to cruise around town.
