    2010 Tour de CUF--Bend, Oregon

This year’s ride will be held on Saturday, July 31, beginning in Bend, Oregon sometime around 8:30 am. This initial post will be revised frequently to include the weekend’s schedule, attendees and other pertinent data.

At the moment, this is the likely route, but it’s definitely subject to change. Feel free to comment. Here's some useful info about the area and possible rides.

We’ll have a pre-ride dinner party at [TBA] the night before, including serious carboloading and the awarding of the coveted Creekster Trophy for the winner of the TdF prediction contest.

The mountain bikers are working on an outing for either the day before or after Saturday’s ride. Mrs. PAC and I are planning on arriving in Bend Thursday evening and I’ll play golf Friday while she pokes around quilt and craft stores.

HFN has lodging opportunities for those seeking them. Boardmail him for details.

RSVPs thus far (post a response in this thread or boardmail me to add or correct your status):

I mentioned this in the other thread, but we are sponsoring the "Weird" Al concert at the Deschutes County Fair in Redmond the night of the 31st. We have plenty of extra tickets, so if anyone is interested I'll save a few for you.

First you ignore my turf for Bend (can anything good come from Bend?) and then I don't even make the regrets list? WTH? Like the $10 drop in the cattle market hasn't been enough in the last seven days, now I get this kick in the gut.

Forgive us, Cowboy. We've all got a few regrets, and omitting you from the regrets list is a huge one, to be certain.

Another regret of mine, for example, is that i regret not going to law school so I might have the opportunity to be on an all-expenses paid European vacation to ride my bike through the French and Italian countryside.

But who am I kidding - nobody could ever be so lucky as to have that happen to them.

                $%$@!!

Gonna have to put myself in the "Regrets" catagory. It is looking pretty slim for my chances to be there on that weekend. I'm bummed.

Since I had a little time this afternoon I did some browsing on vrbo for vacation rentals in Bend. HFNW has generously offered a place for people to stay about 45 minutes from Bend. For those that want to stay a little closer to town there are some good options available for this weekend.

                      4/3.5 for $175/nt

                      5BR +convertible bed for $150/nt

                      3BR + optional room for $225/nt

                      3BR +loft+den for $195/nt

3/2.5 with excellent view for $225/nt

3/2.5 in resort village for $200/nt

Coach also posted a couple of other places a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find them with a quick search.

Most of them do have a cleaning fee of $80-150, so that would need to be figured into the cost as well. But all in all, it looks we could get a really nice place for 2 nights for $500 total, divided 5-8 ways.

If you are one of those planning to stay in the joint housing, check these places out and let me know which one you like the best. As of now, they are all available for that weekend, but we should still get a place reserved sooner than later, as they can disappear in a hurry.

Thanks, guys, for checking into this. Sorry to take so long to respond. I like Coach's picks best, as well as goose's first 2. Any other voters out there? Or is everyone fine with these? As goose said, we need to get going on this. Who will go in on the joint lodging, and who would rather do their own?

I have not ridden a bike since July 2009.
