    I went down yesterday

Yesterday was our group ride. We only had five of us but it was five pretty good riders. We were about ten miles into the ride and I went down. I can't remember anything about it so this is all second hand. We were going about twenty two mph and I crossed wheels with my neighbor who I ride with all the time. He is a pharmacist so he was a big help later own. I don't remember hitting the ground but I guess I was out for right around five minutes. They called the ambluance but they tell me when it got out there I resusfed to get in it. Dave, my neighbor, also called his wife to come get my bike. I got in with them but they tell me I didn't want to go to hospital but they took me anyway. I still can't remember any of this. After getting to the hospital they wanted to do a scan on my brain. I remeber freaking out becaus they had me in a neck brace and I'm terrilbly Clautrophic so I didn't want to go into that scan. I guess they gave me something and my brother held me down and they got it done. They held me overnight and tried loading me up with perkadan. The doctor came in today and told me I had a broken cheek bone, eye socket and nose. The nose is only thing they may have to reset. I m home now but sore. My left side is sore and my right hand is to. This cut one of my jerseys off of me so I'm a little bummed about that but my shorts are okay and very little damage to my bike. This was my first time going down in over twenty years so for all you guys just getting into biking I hope you keep going. Cycling has given me so much joy to let a little thing like this stop me. I hope this makes sense because I'm still a little groggy.

Oh crap. How awful. I hope you recover quickly and fully, and that you're back on that bike soon.

I'm too sad to even make the obligatory "how does this affect the RATT challenge?" remark.

      Get well, RC.

Phew. I was really worried about those shorts.

Sorry, RC. I hope it's a quick and largely pain-free recovery.

First, I am very glad you will be ok. A few battle scars and a good story to tell around the fire on winter nights, including that you were too dman tough to take the ambulance. Even so, I am sure it will be unpleasant. Hang in there.

Second, this is a good cauthionary tale. You are an expeierneced rider to whom these sorts of things rarely happen, but they do, still, happen on
aoccasion. It is good for evryone to remember that you must pay attention all the time (not to say you weren't, but to remind everyone else to do so). If RC can go down, anyone can go down.

Take care and keep us updated on the recovery.
                PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Sounds pretty serious. Good luck with your recovery.

Wow RC. You are quite lucky overall. Sounds like a pretty serious faceplant. Good luck on your recovery.

Holy shit that is scary. I am glad you seem to be ok. I can't even imagine the pain of breaking facial bones, let alone the road rash assoctiated with such things.

I hope your recovery is speedy.

I'm glad you're ok RC that's a very sobering report. Being out for 5 minutes is a long time, I'll bet your friends were getting pretty anxious. Sounds like a blessing that you don't remember any of it.

Dang, RC, that's scary. Glad to hear that there is no brain injury. Get better soon.

Wow, RC, that's a bad tumble. It reminds me of the time my wife crossed my wheel, and dug a furrow with her face and shoulder in some gravel. She was out cold, too, and had to go to the hospital in an ambulance. Short-term memory was (temporarily) affected, and she not only doesn't remember the event, but the entire week afterword.

I hope you get feeling better soon.
