  • With all the local and national criticism for cancelling the game, what is the likelihood Hill and Kry walk back their decision? I think its nil and that it's time for BYU to let go of the rivalry. As much as I love the rivalry, I'm tired of the crap being pulled by Hill/Kry/Utah. It's garbage that at some unknown time in the future, Utah wants to dictate to BYU when the rivalry is appropriate to resume. I can't stomach the idea of BYU letting Utah control the terms of the rivalry. I'd prefer BYU just told Utah to take their offer to resume the rivalry and shove it.

It's not like you turn it on or off. That's what the stupid uofutah thinks can happen. Even if we never play, the uofutah can't avert its gaze from what is happening in the UC.

Weird. BYU loses in football and basketball this year, and yet BYU still wins. Comparing the quality of the promotional material coming out of the two institutions should have warned the uofutah to not get in a PR war with BYU.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

      • This is really funny stuff. Almost everyone hates the Utes now. What I really love is the new BYU fan archetype. Ute fans view of BYU fans makes us seem kind of like super villains. By day we’re emasculated Peter Priesthood tunnel singing homos but by night we’re invincible cheap shot artists who cause great harm to all we come in contact with and must be avoided for fear of harm.

            I agree.

I think BYU should take the approach of "This is a game that the fans, students, and alumni from both schools love, along with the media...and...well, really everyone except for a handful of people in the Utah Athletic Dept.

So we'd love to continue it. We aren't sure why you don't want to at this point. Give us a call once you've pulled your head out of your ass and we'll get something on the schedule. In the meantime, there are a bunch of other teams out there we think it would be cool to play.

            Thanks!"

I'm not going to play the jilted lover. The games should be played. There's too much tradition being thrown out the window in college sports. Kansas/Missouri, Texas/Texas A&M...those games should be played. It's dumb that they aren't no matter what the reasoning. BYU/Utah should always play and they certainly shouldn't stop because some colossal douche from Missoula feels threatened.

              • If you love the rivalry, you have to love this development. It's just another intriguing chapter in the narrative. This is better than the actual games, in my opinion.

And you don't have to actually watch sports, so it's a win/win for you!

                  • I thought we were supposed to have the high quality Utah posters? But every post by a UofU fan is basically in the same region of quality as Krystkowiak's press release yesterday.

And you're getting your asses kicked. Hurry, run back to ub5 where you can write crap like this:

The rivalry has got to be very unpleasant for the coaches, if not the players. The national press seems to revel in the "Holy War" aspect of it, but there's much about it that's ugly. Kodiak is at a stage and stature where he can say, "who needs this toxicity?" Even more so for someone who's from out of state and not Mormon.
