That's very close to having a terminal prognosis. Only 5% recover from Pancreatic cancer.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

This isn't the typical pancreatic cancer that you hear about. The article says it's a neuroendocrine tumor, where the typical pancreatic cancer is an adenocarcinoma.

Still very rough, I'm sure, but I don't think it's as serious as pancreatic cancer.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Horrible news for Rose and his family. Best wishes to them.

I assume he will no longer be the BYU coach?

How rough is it? He had internal bleeding so you'd have to think that it was pretty advanced.

I can't seem to find any specific prognosis numbers, likely because there are a whole lot of different types of neuroendocrine tumors. In general, it looks as if prognosis is better, but very dependent on staging and grading.

Thanks for shining some postive light on this, ER. Let's hope this is the case.

Terrible news. Very sad. This really puts spectator sports in perspective.

Well, it really depends on what the bleeding was from. He could have had a bleeding ulcer (not all that rare in even healthy people) and they noticed something on the scope. Jarid? They may have picked up something on his blood chemistries incidentally. Or he could be in liver failure from the cancer. We just need more info.

In the end, cancer sucks no matter what. Very sad day.

Dave Rice will be interim Head Coach and is already acting in that capacity in spite of it not being made public yet.
