    • I wonder if Nick Emery is still sending out tweets mocking small gyms.

PLease, never wear that hoodie to a BYU game again. Jusyt in case.

As it turns out I am sort gald I didnt go. Watching at home I could turn to the Jazz game when I got overly frustrated with BYU.
            PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Agreed, at least not to a BBall game (its record is unblemished in the FB games where it has seen action). It would have been nice to have had you there for commiseration, but the guy sitting alone behind me provided plenty of entertaining expletives with each BYU turnover, bad shot or missed defensive assignment--he was talking pretty much nonstop.

              • This morning on KSL's CougarTracks while I was driving to work, they mentioned that Santa Clara had their highest output of 3's on the season (14), while BYU only hit 3 of them.

I started wondering how BYU's players and coaches see those stats. Do they tend to think that they had a bad shooting night and need to hit more of those shots to win the game? Or do they tend to think that they let Santa Clara hit too many of those shots, and need to play better defense to win the game.

I know that the truth is somewhere in the middle. But it got me thinking about BYU's approach to basketball.

Yes it's professional basketball vs college but apart from the Denver game last week (4th game in 5 nights) the gap in every metric imaginable between the Jazz and BYU is waaaay too wide.

BYU will never probably be never be a great defensive team and I don't think the defense overall has been as bad this year as most claim. But we have to figure out a way to defend the 3 point line better. It's the reason we lose to all the teams in this league not named Gonzaga and Saint Mary's.

Topper and I will work up a strategy to defend the 3 and get it right over to Dave Rose.

Awesome. When you're done with that, can you send me over a strategy for us to beat the 33rd ward tonight in ball at the stake center? They've got a couple of gunners and one guy that is great at dribble penetration.

                      Thanks!

The funny thing is that for the season BYU gives up a pretty low 3-pt FG%. But then you have a few games like last night where they all go in for the other team. I don't know what to make of it. A lot of them were contested shots too -- not all. I get that. But there was more than one where that Kratch guy threw it up there with a hand in the face and it went in.

Don't forget to include JL in the defensive designs, or are you relying upon JL for half court offensive sets?

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.
