ESPN is reporting that Jim Boylen is a candidate for the USC job and wouldn't turn it down simply because of the investigation. This leads me to believe after its clear he would have taken Arizona and is now in the mix at USC that he'll be gone from Utah sooner rather than later. Which begs the question for the Utes, which way do you go, another search for a guy like Boylen or go with a guy like Tommy Connor?

Something more might be said for Conner as you need some continuity to build a program. This is the last bit for Ute Hoops. 2 years for Boylen. 3 years for Giac. Most of a year for Rupp. 2ish years for Majerus. 1 year for Dick Hunsaker.

So we'll see.

I've no idea regarding Connors coaching philosophy, but there's no question the guy loves the state of Utah in general. The guy has had numerous chances to leave the HC job at Westminster to be the #1 assistant at several D-I schools and turns them down time and again.

Why he does this I have no idea, but it seems clear that he's a loyal guy and that he's a Utah man.

Regarding his experience, and whether his style is something that would appeal to Ute fans, well I have no idea.

With Lute gone, the P10 needs a coach that the rest of the conference can not like. Boylen would fit that bill, good coach, crazy antics that you would love if he was your guy but hate because he is the other guy. That would be great for the conference.

The P10 was well on the way to crazy coach league with Lute, Floyd and Trent "I just killed a man" Johnson a short 3 years ago. Now it is a league full of coaches that most people can just respect and don't go to wild courtside, no fun.

Why take an unproven guy like Connor when you've got a certifiable winner just up the road with Disco?

When Disco does something like win an NCAA game or win hell I don't know a road game, he can be a candidate. Disco had a chance to prove his worth and all he's prove is that he's a coward.

Stu Morrill is a complete wussy when it comes to scheduling. Just watch the attendance get even worse when we are playing 3-4 DII teams per year and multiple teams with RPI's in the 250-350 range.

I've kind of come around to your thinking on this, that if he had national level assistants, maybe Conner would be the way to go because we do need to stability in the program. We essentially haven't had it in a decade.
