Saw Ben Simmons for the first time last night and am intrigued if not convinced he's going to be special. At 6'10" has NBA athleticism, a NBA body and an impressive skill set for a guy that size. He's been compared to a young LeBron and Lamar Odom and I think he's somewhere in between. Not as athletic as LeBron was, and his overall skillset, while very good, isn't at the level of LeBron at the same age. At the same time, he's stronger and more athletic than Odom and doesn't have the off court issues LO had. It will be interesting to see him against good competition.

Jordan Loveridge is still fat, still takes horrible shots, will shoot a low percentage and shoot Utah out of a few games this year.

Isaiah Wright and Brandon Taylor are both going to struggle. Taylor needs someone to set him up so he can catch and shoot. Wright can't do that. Taylor will miss Delon the most. He looks uncomfortable bringing the ball up and shooting off the dribble.

Bonam this JC kid, looks Iieknhe has potential. I think he ends up in the starting lineup before long.

Brekkot chapman looks bad early on.

As a team the shot selection is a little suspect. They still lack elite shooters. But they are athletic and shoot well enough to win a lot of games.

Kyle Kuzma is good and he is going to be a problem for BYU. Pisses me off.
Also, their defense so far isn't very good.

I noticed the DirecTV summary of tonights game says that "Long Beach State has to replace all five starters, while 10 players are gone from a good BYU team," and goes on to note that "Dave Rose has shown a talent for juggling personnel." I'll say. He juggled so well I did realize ten players were gone.
