HEY DICKHEAD, WHILE THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY WAS SPLITTING YOUR ASSCHEEKS WIDE APART,twice, AND GIVING YOU ONE HELL OF AN F-15 RIDE THE BYU HAS BECOME A NATIONAL PHENOMENON. AS YOUR ASS WRITHES IN PAIN THE ARGUMENT ABOUT THE BYU IS NOT WHETHER IT SHOULD BE A 1 OR 2 SEED, IT IS WHICH OF THE TWO THURSDAY-SATURDAY BRACKETS SHOLD BE GRACED WITH THE PRESENCE OF BYU!

Yeah, I remember a discussion I had on CB with a poster who lamented that Jimmer would never be more than a poor-man's Gerry McNamara. My point was, you should be ecstatic if he turns into that kind of player. Little did we know ...
As far as evolution from frosh to senior, I don't know of any player who has done what Fredette has.
Jimmer really exploded as a junior. There was a stretch in mid-late December last year where he was just lighting up all, the U of A was included in that run. Then he got mono and while he had good games after that, I don't think he was the same and tourney type atmospheres with multiple games with little rest did not allow him to really show what he was.
While he has improved significantly, I just believe his hugest jump was from sophmore to junior and similar to Andre Miller I think the biggest change was that the previous star, in his case Lee Cummard, was finally out of the way allowing the unnassuming youngster his chance to be the man.

This was after his sophomore season. BYU doesn't get many players who put up the numbers Jimmer put up as a soph while playing a secondary role.
My post was just a small jab at KDog's expense. So let's not make this too serious.
After his sophomore year, Jimmer looked no different from the guys I compared him to. He had just played 33 mpg and averaged 16 ppg. He was also only shooting 38% from 3. Frankly, he looked like he had reached the apex of his career. He looked like a serviceable combo guard. His junior year against Arizona was the first time I saw a potential NBA player. Frankly, I'm surprised at anyone who saw him as an NBA guy earlier than that. Hell, I was one of the few who didn't criticize his game when he was a HS player and we all got his video on CB.
On the subject of Davies, I still think we would have been better off if he had been able to redshirt last year. I won't retract that statement at all. He only gave us 5 ppg last year at 13 mpg and couldn't guard the water bottles in practice (at least not without fouling).
Who knows, maybe Haws will come back from his mission and be the best player in the country. I doubt it but just like with Jimmer, I'll cheer early and often if he does.

It would be nice to still have 3 more years with Davies. But I'm glad he got the experience he did last year. I think that was more valuable in developing him for this year than red shirting. And this year is the most important because we have the best chance of doing something in March.
Also, by the end of last year Davies was pretty much out-playing Miles. Or at least he was in my eyes, and in Rose's--as reflected in their relative playing time. So I'm glad we had him last year too. All this despite Miles' alleged ability to touch the rim with his eyes.

Didn't Davies get sick and miss a couple of games midseason, just as he was starting to really find his groove? I think that had an impact on his role post illness.

You know what I really like about your basketball posts? You think snarkiness and derision have value. I find that quaint.

BD on the cover of SI this week. That combined with the nice Fox Sports article, make it a good week for the kid. A big change from a year ago, I'm happy for Brandon.
