I hope so. Not because I have a BITF hatred for the kid but it would mean we have a much needed upgrade at the position.

Zags message board very complimentary of byu. I have to give them that much, they are a pretty nice bunch

His final foul was pretty dumb and gave them an easy and-1. But it got him out of the game for good, so maybe it was smart!Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostEven Luke managed to not make any dumb mistakes and even had a nice scoop of a loose ball in traffic at half court that led to a fast break.

This win is up there with the SDSU win IMO. That SDSU legitimized BYU and put Jimmer squarely in front for NPOY. But this win means more I think.Originally posted by Topper View PostIs this the biggest regular season win ever? The win against the Aztecs may have been the biggest win at home coupled with the win against Pitt. The biggest win ever may have been ND or UCLA in the Tourney. This is definitely top five. Did a Cosic team defeat UCLA?
KC said last night, "So many big games, so many close losses. But we won the biggest."
That win was so improbable. Taking on the #3 team in the country in an absolute must win where very few gave us a chance to win (Pomeroy 12%). Senior night for Pangos, Bell, Wesley. Zags playing for a #1 seed. BYU came in a 12 point dog. And from the tip BYU played as aggressive as I have ever seen. It wasn't always pretty, but these guys were all battling and scrapping for everything. They broke a 22 game win streak, a 41 game home winning streak and never trailed once in this game. It's the first time Gonzaga never held a lead in a game since 2007. And BYU dealt the Zags just their 9th loss in the Kennel (160-9 since it opened). All of that combined puts this as one of the best wins in program history.
If someone would have told me we would beat Gonzaga on the road with just 10 points from Haws while shooting 42% from the field and missing 13 FTs I would said you're nuts. But that's what we did. Props to this coaching staff. Pope has taken over the defense and the progress this team has made in that department is encouraging. The development of Kaufusi and even Andrus can't be understated. Rose figuring out lineups that maximize the talent and contributions from each this late in the season has been something. It's arguably his best coaching job ever. He's juggled so much this year. He told Wrubell in one of those videos at Bam's that it would have been easier had they known they wouldn't have Aytes and Austin for the rest of the year when they were injured. He said all year they were playing anticipating them to return only to have another setback so it took him a long time to figure out a lineup that would work. He did 6 games ago and it is something to see them jell now.

Still riding high this morning. What a fantastic win. It seemed like everyone but Haws had a great game. I take back everything bad I've ever said about Halford. Kaufusi's surge in the last 4 games had been amazing. Even Luke managed to not make any dumb mistakes and even had a nice scoop of a loose ball in traffic at half court that led to a fast break.
If we can have that kind of intensity and defense with Haws showing up, this is a dangerous team.

I know Gonzaga is really good, but I think that we could have a shot if we were to play them again in the conference tournament. It all depends on the defensive effort.
