With So Much Drama Against the LBC-First Game Thread

Tomorrow night is opening night. So many questions this year, "Is Collinsowrth back and how many minutes will he log defensively at the 4, and will the absence of the mullet impair him in any way?,", "Can the freshmen play?" "Will Luke let his crotch thrusts out on the Court this year?" etc.

Glad that hoops are back. Maybe this won't turn into a total debacle like the football season.

I endorse the thread title. I was leaning get towards Long Beach Hate, but yours is better.

I would have gone with "Regulators: Hitting the East Side of the LBC" but that's just me.

LBSU is supposed to be a decent team with some athleticism, especially at PG and on the wings. Also, they have a 6-9 guy in the middle who transferred from the Florida Gulf Coast team that made the sweet 16 two years ago. BYU's main priority if they want to improve from last year is to get better defensively. I like what I saw on that side of the ball in the Seattle Pacific game. They played a tight man defense that caused SP a lot of problems and came up with 16 steals. I think the two major problems with BYU defensively last year was not having the right mindset and effort on D, and lack of athleticsm to play an aggressive man to man.

LBSU is going to be at least as athletic as most WCC teams, so if BYU can have success with their D against them similar to what they did in the last game, it bodes well for the season. There were at most 3 or 4 games last year where offense was even remotely the problem if you get down to it. Utah was one of those. But scoring 88 against ISU or 94 against UMass or 96 in the first Oregon game should be enough to get you a win. They lost those because they gave up 90, 105, and 100 points. Rose teams will find a way to score points, and I don't think this year is going to be an exception. So I'll be happy if the defense looks improved tonight. If so, I think they'll have a good year.

This game has LMU in Dave Roses inaugural season written all over it.

Tyler Lamb (G) has been suspended and will not play.

except that this BYU team is a lot better than Rose's first team.

This makes a big difference. He's their best player.

I was just about to ask if I am supposed to know who Tyler Lamb is. I thought I saw him playing for OKC the other night. Thanks.

He's a 6-5 SG. He transferred to them from UCLA a couple of years ago and averaged 15ppg last year.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.
