  • Heard on Opie radio this morning that Yale's second best player was expelled because of a rape allegation.

The allegation and expulsion have all the hallmarks of the kangaroo court nonsense engaged in by too many college campuses. Woman has repeated sexual encounters with man, comes back after the last encounter and spends the night with the accused. Makes a complaint to the school a year later, but doesn't make a criminal complaint. Without any criminal investigation or involvement by the police, the accused is thrown out of school.

The player is now suing Yale. These cases are becoming more common and the schools are losing these suits.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    • Picks are in. Those in green have paid, those in white still haven't. I'm not worried about it at this point, just get me payment when you can. We had four rebuys, so the total pot currently rests at $340.

As a housekeeping matter, yesterday when we were discussing that Omaha had submitted a Friday pick, smr also realized he had given me a Friday pick. He proposed Miami in place of Xavier, and we made the switch. IOW, he got the same mercy we showed Omaha. Here are the Friday picks:

        • I agree that Oregon State seems completely over seeded and probably shouldn't have even received an invite, but that's a lot of picks for a 10 seed on VCU.

            • I'm really interested in that Cal game. Hawaii is tipping off at 8 AM Hawaii time, which isn't good for them. Normally 12-13 seeds with few losses scare me, but Hawaii is another MWC team and I can't remember the last time an MWC team scored an upset in the tourney.

They're playing a crappy team so I'm not sure why you're that worried.

Who is that Cal player who broke his hand a couple of days ago? I wonder how much that will impact the game.

Cal lost a player to a broken hand in practice yesterday too.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

That's the other reason I'm interested, but didn't want to mention it.

Turns out that Hawaii is in the Big West for basketball, there might be some hope for them still.

I'm with you, but if they lose, there goes the neighborhood.

Having watched them a lot this year, I never really felt like they were a tournament team. They'll probably win and send me packing.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
