Just discovered this site and don't know if it is your school's main forum. Have lived in both Utah and Kansas.
Just curious as to your thoughts about probably playing Wichita State at the Sprint Center in Kansas City on Tuesday.
Have seen enough of your team to know you will throttle Texas in the semifinals on Monday. #14 WSU will likely have an easy time with DePaul in the late game. That sets up what I believe will be the most entertaining nonconference game of the year involving 2 teams that don't play in power conferences. Your offense is unstoppable at times and WSU plays some of the best defense in the nation. The Shockers beat Pitt, Gonzaga, and Ohio State on their way to the Final Four last year and are currently 5-0. They will likely be ranked 12th in the next poll. But I believe it will be like the Broncos and the Chiefs. A good offense will overcome a good defense.
The Sprint Center is an incredible venue for college basketball. If you go, check out the college basketball museum next door and the always entertaining Power and Light District across the street. KC is a basketball town and I expect a fair number of KU fans to be in attendance out of curiosity and for the entertainment. Wichita is a 2.5 hour drive and you can expect thousands of rowdy Shocker fans to be in attendance. I assume BYU fans travel well. I'm flying in to go the Chiefs/Chargers game on Sunday and the tournament on Monday and Tuesday.
I believe the CBE Classic rotates a different "local team" into the tournament every year. One year it is KU, the next K-State, then Missouri, and finally WSU. I'm sure ESPN will hype the BYU-WSU game since they are televising it.
One final opinion, WSU has a nonconference schedule that includes Tennesse, Alabama, St. Louis, Tulsa, etc. But I think they would jump at a home and home with BYU. If the game Tuesday is as good as I think it will be, I hope that BYU would pursue it. I know WSU would agree. It's just a 2 hour plane ride and a very good RPI game for both teams.
