Wayman Tisdale passed away today at the age of 44.

how sad. I hadn't heard. He lost his battle with cancer, I guess.

I think I told this story before on CB, when I was leaving on my mission I had a layover in the Phoenix airport. I was standing by a payphone bank while my companion called someone and Wayman Tisdale walked by. We made eye contact and he came over and shook my hand and said "Good luck", I think I maybe said "Thanks." Although it is entirely possible that I said nothing. He had his bass slung over his shoulder. Obviously his passing effects me greater than most on CUF.

Cool. Great story -- Tisdale seemed like a good guy.

I saw Greg Ostertag in the Las Vegas airport last Sunday. That dude is hard to miss. And he was in the Southwest portion of the airport, making me wonder how the hell a guy his size could ever fit into a coach seat. I'm only 6'4" and am miserable unless I get an exit row.

Airports are awesome for celebrity/athlete sightings.

Junkie, didn't your mother ever teach you not to speak ill of the dead? This is a disappointing title and starter to this thread about the tragic, premature death of an individual who lived a life that from all appearances was beyond exemplary and accomplished. He became a world class pro basketball player AND (self-taught) world class Jazz musician, and perhaps most impressive of all, never let it all go to his head.
