    Utes vs. Huskies

Utah leading at the half by 8 . Jason Washburn has had a great first half on both sides of the floor. At one point he was 6 for 6 from the floor. You gotta feel good for a kid like Washburn, who has really been through a lot as a player in this program.

They've held CJ Wilcox to 0 points in the first half.

Here's hoping they can hold on.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Utah's defense has been very good tonight. They are really dogging Wilcox, so much so that if I wasn't watching, I'd think they were playing a box-1 defense. Good double teaming at the right moments have taken him out of his game.

I'm more impressed with their offense tonight. They've been very patient in running the plays letting the clock get down to 5 seconds or less before taking a shot and the shots, with the exception of two or three possessions have not been rushed. Washburn has been lights out so far. I'm happy for him. He's the one kid who has endured the decline of Utah hoops and to have him playing as well as he has says a lot about his character.

Agree. The game plan is really frustrating the Huskies right now. The Utes have to continue to be patient on offense and feed Washburn and Loveridge...no quick shots, no trying to run with Washington.

10:45 to go, Utes up 11.

CJ Wilcox is starting to get some good looks and he's hit 2 of his last 3 shots (both 3s). Utah is getting a lot of easy buckets right now and both Wasburn and Loveridge are on the bench.

Very impressed with Brandon Taylor as well...he's managed to hit some tough shots, and luck box his way into a few others.

I missed the first half and was shocked to see how well it's been going when I tuned in to the game. I hope they can keep this up. I'm seeing some offensive aggression that seems new.

They're passing the ball really well on offense tonight.

Under 5 to play and Washington has it down to 6.

Loveridge gets a big offensive board to push t to 8...but CJ Wilcox is starting to get some calls that you would associate with the second leading scorer in the league.

This would be huge if the Utes can hold on here...under 4 to play.

Utes with a nice steal...but they've gone 1 of their last 4 free throws.

Poor CatBlue. His Huskies with a disappointing loss. Hope he doesn't take it too hard.

So, the Utes nab their first road win in the Pac 12...so let's give it up for that!

From a bigger picture standpoint, this is a win that Larry K. has to build off of. He's got a three game home stand coming up vs. Cal (2-3), vs. Stanford (2-3) and vs. Colorado (2-4). So he could really take a few big steps forward over the next few games.

From a much bigger picture standpoint, Taylor and Loveridge are very nice guys to build around for this team...and we've seen some flashes from other young players. Long ways to go...and I wouldn't declare Utah basketball as "back," but performances like tonight, and being lead by the likes of Taylor and Loveridge makes me optimistic for the future.
