This should be a really fun game. In my perfect world Davies has his first good game and re-asserts himself in a meaningfull way. He should be able to score on the St Mary's post players with relative ease. I am expecting Haws to demonstrate why he is developing into the best player in the conference. Carlino will facilitate Haws and Davies dominating and then when St Mary's focusses upon those two he will put in a dagger. I also expect to see either Winder or Delgado provide some good minutes defending the St Mary's guards.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostTime to start hyping this game. If BYU defends well they will win by 10-14 pts, IMO. If Davies gets in foul trouble it could be a dogfight. I thought Saturday was a good step forward for this BYU team. It wasn't a good win per se, but a very good win for this BYU team. Beating St Mary's in Provo will be a similar win. Not a real good win but a good win for this BYU team. Beating Gonzaga at home and St Mary's in Moraga would be good wins, period. Beating Gonzaga in Spokane would be similar to beating SDSU in San Diego - but for that to happen Gonzaga would have to play like crap.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I think Rose figured out how to play MouthGuard but it was too little to late. Look for BYU to put a ton of on the ball pressure on him and get him to rush his game. Carlino should be primed to have a great game and I would be that he ends up with 3+ steals.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI want to beat these guys bad. They hammered us last year twice and we had no answer for Dellavedova in the first game, and they were incredibly balanced in the second game with multiple guys hurting us.
If Davies does not get into foul trouble, BYU will win by 15+.

Will we see a little Winder on MouthGuard? I still want to see the student section all wear giant MouthGuards to this game. Someone needs to make that happen.Originally posted by A-Train View PostI think Rose figured out how to play MouthGuard but it was too little to late. I think so. I expect either Winder or Delgado to get plenty of time at the 2 this game but cover Devladova.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostWill we see a little Winder on MouthGuard? It will be a fun game. If Davies plays well BYU will win. If Davies and Carlino play well, BYU will win decisively.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

The guy does a pretty decent breakdown. Rose runs some nice plays. His inbounds plays on the baseline are a thing of beauty. BYU must convert about 90% of those plays. I love watching the play develop when they get the ball under their hoop.Originally posted by Pelado View PostPretty cool."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Just bought my ticket. Section 8. I will be there in white and ready to rumble. I must warn you folks I am looking for a slumpbuster. My last two games at the MC were New Mexico in Jimmer's senior year and last year's game against St Mary's.
If BYU wins tomorrow and the slump is broken I am hoping to make the Zags game as well, I am flying back that day and arrive at SLC at 7:26 from DC. I think that is enough time to get my bag and drive down to Provo for a hoops game.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

As I have watched Dave Rose teams over the years I think if I were a stud who really wanted to be the man - BYU is coached very attractively for that endstate. Rose is very flexible with his offensive "system." There are some fundamentals of his system that are not extremely flexible, uptempo and take good shots on fast break or secondary break opportunities which I think is a way to cover BYU's lack of athleticism wrt defensive rebounding, but he really seems competent incorporating specific stud skillsets. The way he used Keena Young, Jimmer and now Haws is impressive. As I watched Tyler this year I have wondered if that crossed Jabari's mind or perhaps Jabari really would rather be at an elite program with a higher likelihood of winning it all. I can obviously understand why Jabari did what he did but as I watch BYU play I notice how good Rose is in facilitating great offensive players being able to take over a game.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThe guy does a pretty decent breakdown. Even I pulled string the game against New Mexico two years ago. It just hurt and how Dave regrouped the team in time to damn near make the elite 8 was impressive and was a huge shot in the arm for the fanbase. He has done some fabulous coaching but that tourney performance was my favorite. I felt like Robert the Bruce in "Braveheart" screaming out "I never wanna lose heart!" I had turned into the pussy I so often mock but Rose had the testicular fortitude to coagulate the bleeding and get the most out of his team. It was great leadership.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI think you are aware of how slumpbusting works. Get busy, but no pics please.
