I was actually pretty happy with how BYU played being that it was their first game. I think Tennessee St is pretty solid and will do well this season in their league. We definitely have some things to work on. Rebounding and Free Throw Shooting was poor. Also we got a little careless with the ball at the end of the game.
I thought our team showed balance. I was actually pretty happy with Zylstra and Carlino. Both guys did not press on the offensive side of the ball and let the game come to them. I loved how Carlino was constantly looking to push the ball up the floor. The difference between this year and last year was that he pushed it by passing the ball up instead of dribbling up the floor.
Davies and Haws were money and if we can continue to see the improvement of Sharp and Austin, we will be in good shape. The need to work on their Defensive Rebounding and that will and should get better.
Cusick looked really bad out there. Very careless on the floor at the end of the game. Could not handle the press and then could not make a free throw to save his life.Comment

So apparently the student section at the hoops games is now called the ROC? It is very unclear. As usual, BYU not doing a good job rolling out new things. There is a banner over the tunnel that reads, "Welcome to the ROC" and another banner along the baseline that reads, "Roar of Cougars." awful.
Also, prior to coming out onto the court when they play sandstorm, there is now a large rock in the tunnel for all the players to slap on the way out. It looks like Howard's Rock at Clemson. Brandon Davies didn't slap it after the first half.

They have started a SDSU deal with the students wearing costumes, bringing fat heads and other large cardboard cutouts. One guy has a dizzy spinner that he holds up during free throws (I guess the NCAA doesn't prohibit those like the NBA does as a result of that one Jazz fan). There is even a "Free Throws Missed" counter that they update in game. I agree that the student section needs to be on the side, not behind the basket.
Also, please be advised that the girl in tight pants is no longer doing in game promos.

The students should all be together.
I watched an 8 minute stretch when I got home from work that went about 12 minutes to 4 minutes left in the second half.
It was unwatchable, there was no flow, too many fouls called. I think Haws is going to have a pretty nice year.Will donate kidney for B12 membership.Comment
