You need a longer view. Add in the WAC ten years before that, at least for like teams. Also, what about tournament championships?

Don't the Utes have 3 OCC's, or were those simply nightmares from which I can now awake?

Throw in NCAA tournament play and the nightmare continues.

I hate conference tournaments. I think they are ridiculous. So I don't care enough to do the research.

Ten years is somewhat arbitrary, but serves as a pretty good window into the status of the conference programs.

The analysis clearly shows that BYU, Utah, and UNLV are the class of the conference. Although I was surprised that UNLV has only one championship, they are also the most consistent - they are almost always 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. This year was their worst finish, place-wise, in conference history. BYU and Utah, OTOH, have each had 2 or 3 finishes in the bottom half of the conference.

Not much separates them - certainly not enough to claim clear superiority by anyone, especially if you include UNLV's superior record in the UNLV tournament.

Wow, how pathetic is that? I had just staggered in from a long ride which only heightened my customary dementia. But really, despite this interesting thread being placed in the basketball forum, and even though the season numbers clearly show a basketball schedule (16 games and not 8), it was an honest mistake any octogenarian could make. I need to up my meds. Thanks to both of you for not being as brutal as you could have been. I'm just glad DDD and YOhio weren't around.

Now now, there PAC. Let's not get all worked up -- remember your blood pressure. Anyway, it's almost time for the early bird special at Furrs. If we hurry we'll even make it back in time for your Jeopardy and Perry Mason reruns!
