You need a longer view. Add in the WAC ten years before that, at least for like teams. Also, what about tournament championships?

I hate conference tournaments. I think they are ridiculous. So I don't care enough to do the research.

Ten years is somewhat arbitrary, but serves as a pretty good window into the status of the conference programs.

The analysis clearly shows that BYU, Utah, and UNLV are the class of the conference. Although I was surprised that UNLV has only one championship, they are also the most consistent - they are almost always 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. This year was their worst finish, place-wise, in conference history. BYU and Utah, OTOH, have each had 2 or 3 finishes in the bottom half of the conference.

Not much separates them - certainly not enough to claim clear superiority by anyone, especially if you include UNLV's superior record in the UNLV tournament.

But really, despite this interesting thread being placed in the basketball forum, and even though the season numbers clearly show a basketball schedule (16 games and not 8), it was an honest mistake any octogenarian could make.
