    The Spokane Word: BYU @ Gonzaga

    So I just read that Hartsock may not play on Thursday?

    “He’s pretty sore,” Rose said. “Hopefully he’ll feel better and we can get something from him, if not Thursday than Saturday."
    That sounds like the recipe for a loss to the Bulldogs. Not that BYU can't win without Noah, but don't think there's any question that he's BYU's MVP this year.
    Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

      I have zero confidence in the medical staff and coaches handling this knee injury appropriately.

          Props on the thread title. I was going to take a stab at it last night but couldn't come up with anything. Glad I waited.

          If Davies can get going early and avoid foul trouble and Carlino can shoot well and avoid chucking too much I think we still win. Those things are difficult to get at the same time, though. Hartsock is a calming influence on the floor because you know he's good for a bucket when you need it, even if our guards forget to give him the ball as much as they should.

              What do you mean? Do you think they'll bring him back too soon or that he shouldn't have finished the SCU game?

                      More than a calming influence, he's a rim protector. Strange but true. The flopsy twins just don't play to their height potential on defense.

                              I hope I am wrong but I truly believe BYU's chance of winning this game is slim and none.

                              #1 - Both Hartsock and Carlino are banged up. Carlino will need to be ready for Pangos dropping bombs. Let's hope that Stockton plays a ton! If Hartsock can't go or is severely limited, their bigs are going to take advantage of that.

                              #2 - The officiating has been so poor and inconsistent, that they will not allow BYU to win this game if it is close. Chuck and Davies will be in foul trouble early.

                              I hate to say this but the X factor will be Zylchstra. If he can play 30 minutes and give us 15+ points and 5+ boards we might have a chance. That being said, Zylchstra never shows up in big games, will not shoot enough or make enough shots and will most likely be a bigger liability than asset like he has been all season.
