Best stat of the game? Only 3 3-pointers taken in the second half. THAT is an improvement. When you've got guys like Davies and Hartsock you shouldn't come out and have your first 5-6 shots be 3 pointers like against LMU. If they're falling, then let fly. But when you actually have an inside game there is no reason to live and die by the 3.

If the one reason Cusick stays in the game is because he continues to feed the post - that is good enough for me. I loved the play when Davies sent the ball out, resets just a little deeper in the paint, and Cusick went right back at him. Awesome.

Finally - can I just tell you that I enjoyed the broadcast so much more without Dave McCann ever making a comment about how Zylstra is sure a great streaky shooter and could go off at any moment. I think this is the first game in a month that he hasn't said something along those lines (please understand - I lost reception due to snow for a few minutes. So if he said it and I just missed it - please don't say anything. I want to believe that not only is the basketball team capable of improvement, but the broadcast team is too...)

I think our guard's greatest weakness collectively is their belief that they are better than they are. I'm including Zylstra, Abuou, and Carlino in my assessment. All three think they are always on the verge of getting hot. At least we have a backup for Carlino when he gets that way. I wish we had back ups for Abuou and Zylstra who could do anything. Rogers keeps hurting his uterus and the other wings haven't developed.
