you make it sound as if there were some sort of understanding beforehand. I doubt anyone has so much as even thought about what Gonzaga's arena is like. But thanks for clearing up that . . . uh . . . misunderstanding.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

You either don't know what's going on or are a dickweasel like HigherRoad. A defensive center that averages only 1.5 bpg. I'll pass on that. You still haven't convinced me that Sacre is really worth anything.Originally posted by higherroad View PostKeep in mind, Sacre is only averaging 25 mins per game, while most starting centers average close to 30-31 mpg. Its just super-soph, Sam Dower is really coming on strong and 'breaking out' lately. BYU fans will be impressed with his game, along the same lines as Davies, although BD has a better motor & SD has a better touch. Sacre has only been playing 20-22 mins the last 5 games due to Dower being our leading scorer most games off the bench.
The majority of Zag fans and opposing coaches realize Sacre is NOT a NBA player, sure he's 7'0", 265lbs and moves pretty well, but his hands are terrible. His defense is terrific, maybe one of the best defensive centers around, yet he has no hands, so he gets the ball stolen easily or misses entry passes quite often.
In our last 5 games, 2 opposing coaches have claimed Sam Dower is a sure-fire "pro". We'll see...Elias has a chance, but doubt it -- he'll be around another year anyway, just a junior.
As it stands right now, Dower is by far our most efficient BIG, just look at his points scored per minute -- its currently the 4th best in the entire country! As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Congrats, you got BYU in a rebuilding year. The problem that you are going to have in the future is that BYU has been playing in a big boy conference and while it may not show this year as they are rebuilding, it will be showing in the years to come.Originally posted by Zagitarios View PostWhat's funniest about this forum is even after Gonzaga and St. Mary's bests them this season they will STILL be all snobby and talk like they're better than us. We have plenty of perspective and sportsmanship. We're just arrogant, and damn proud of it.Originally posted by Zagitarios View PostNever seen a forum so lacking in perspective and sportsmanship."The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

I don't care about Gonzaga one bit. When BYU plays them I'll become aware of them again, and then they'll go back to barely existing for me. I'm a bit confused at why HR seems to identify so strongly with not only Gonzaga but also with the weak-ass conference to which they belong. Perhaps because they don't play football you're resigned to never playing in a decent conference?

BYU doesn't "rebuild", they only "reload", am I right? I sincerely mean that.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostCongrats, you got BYU in a rebuilding year. Gonzaga is starting 2 true frosh in their backcourt(both PG & SG are true freshman), and could be considered 'less talented' than normal, yet I'd never claim Gonzaga is "rebuilding". We're going on 15 consecutive trips to the NCAA, 5 Sweet 16's, & 23+ wins every year...Coach Mark Few claimed this year's team was one of the least talented teams he's ever had, but they have great chemistry and more dedicated to defense, so you win/perform/succeed in different ways.
No excuses, mpfunk. I assure you Gonzaga fans have never claimed "rebuilding", c'mon, you're better than that, aren't you?

Why not wait until the BYU-Gonzaga games are played before all the trash talking? After the tourney game last year I really don't see why higherroad thinks he should be hyping his team on here all the time.
St. Mary's barely beat San Diego so let's just wait and see what happens.

I would be more impressive if those 15 consecutive trips to the NCAA and 23+ wins per year came in a conference that could consistently crack the top 10 conferences in the country.Originally posted by higherroad View PostBYU doesn't "rebuild", they only "reload", am I right? I sincerely mean that.

The only reason you got to the tourny last year was because you didn't have any competition in the pathetic WCC. If there were any decent teams, you would have been sitting at home where you belonged. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I realize Zags fans are all in a dither about a potential rivalry w/ BYU (don't you have a rival in the conference already?) but no such rivalry exists and likely won't for a few years, if even then. So, to have higherroad show up wagging his tail and talking as though it did is beyond lame.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

This was the point I inartfully tried to make. Once BYU has played Gonzaga a couple of times (note, it will take at least a couple of times, not just once) then we can start the discussion. Until then the last time I recall watching Gonzaga walk off the court they had just been jimmered.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View Post
