I agree but every team in America would love to have "a guy inside that is an automatic basket". Noah is the closest thing we have but as you say may best be utilized from distance or at least in the high post."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

My guess is that Noah will do most of his work from the high post out. Sure he will get some touches on the low block, but I doubt that is where he will do most of his damage.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostI agree but every team in America would love to have "a guy inside that is an automatic basket". As you guys know there are several ways to break a zone.
1. Penetration off the dribble
2. Penetration off the pass
3. Long range jumpers
4. Offensive rebounding
5. Defensive rebounding/ up tempo early offense
Out of all those options I like BYU's chances with number 2 the with a healthy does of number 4 and 5 mixed in as well. We don't have a dominant ball handler or shooter this year to consistently rely on 1 and 3, but we do have a domninat high post player in Noah that is incredibly versitile which hill help with number 2 in a big way. We are also a pretty good rebounding team. Baylor has size and athleticism, but defensive rebounding out of a zone presents challenges. Baylor is used to it, but it still isn't always easy and there will be opportunities for offensive boards if BYU is aggressive on the offensive glass.Last edited by Flystripper; 12-16-2011, 03:35 PM.Dyslexics are teople poo...

His up and under has really improved a lot so I'm hoping he's still able to score off that move a couple of times. With length he's more likely to get swatted but he's really become quite sneaky with that move. I agree though, rebounding is going to be key because both teams are going to miss a lot from distance.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostMy guess is that Noah will do most of his work from the high post out. I'm going but the ticket options look grim. Not a lot of chairs for sale. mostly benches.
maybe head down at 10:30. I love noon tips because the game is over and you still have most of your day left to do whatever. In my case, whatever means helping my in laws hang wallpaper
Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

They are very big and talented in the frontcourt. But they are also undisciplined and sloppy. I'd prefer to have Rogers available and Collinsworth to help deal with their size but this is a game BYU can win. In fact, they are favored by 1.5 at home.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostBaylor is absolutely huge.
6'11 and future NBA lottery pick Perry Jones leads the way at 6'11. He averages 15 and 6.
6'8 Quincy Acy is averaging 12 and 7
6'9 Quincy Miller is averaging 12 and 5
First two guys off the bench are 6'11 Anthony Jones and 6'9 Cory Jefferson both are averaging 9 and 5.
If that is not enough to deal with their starting PG Pierre Jackson is averaging almost 12 per game while dishing out 4.5 assists. Even more impressive he is shotting 59% from the floor and 60% from 3.
This is going to be a very tough test. Baylor plays primarily a matchup zone so we will need guys like Abouo, Zylstra, and Carlino to hit their perimeter shots. On top of that I would expect that we send 4 guys to the glass which will impair our ability to run.
Here is a preview on the game from Jay Bilas:

Baylor hasn't beaten anyone yet. This is their first real test coming on the road in a very hostile environment. I like our odds.

Do you wear garments? If so, wear a blue shirt, and you'll be good for whatever.Originally posted by jay santos View PostIs it a white out or do we wear blue?
