  • When will Utah take over the head to head BB series lead with BYU?

I know it's not really a rivalry anymore, but it's an interesting question.

Considering Utah is a true, national, historical power in college basketball, it's kind of odd that BYU has the edge in the head to head series 128-125.

Poll: when will Utah take the lead back in this series?
    34
    Never
    52.94%
    18
Utah will win next four games and take the lead then
    2.94%
    1
Sometime in the next 10 years
    11.76%
    4
Sometime in the next 20 years
    20.59%
    7
    Next 20 years or more
    11.76%

when Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, kansas, UCLA make their list of national historical powers, is Utah on that list?

I'm simply expressing my support for Utah ("lol") and clarifying where on that all time list of national powers Utah would rank. My guess is that it would be pretty high.

I figure Rose has about another 5-10 years of coaching and there is no way they are catch ing us as long as Rose is here. The lead should be pretty good by the time he retires. Utah won't suck forever, but they are looking at at least 20-30 years before they have a chance to catch up since we are only playing each other once per year now.

The big milestone coming up toward the end of this year will be when BYU passes Utah in the all-time basketball wins department.

BYU started the year about 25 wins behind I believe -- pretty incredible that they can make that deficit up in a single season.

Utah is not a true, historic, national power. They are a true, historic, solid program. The Majerus era and the current era are aberrations. They'll get back to being a solid program one day.

Utah isn't a true national historical power in college basketball. However, Utah is historically a very good program and substantially better than the BYU program. Sure the head-to-head series is close, but where it matters the most it isn't even a competition.

I'm guessing in winning championships in lesser tournaments (yes the NIT wa a better tournament back then) during times of war?

Can't be that. It has to something significant. Where "it is not even a competition".

                      Facilities?
                      Worldwide fanbase?
                      Name recognition?

My money is on PAC-12 affiliation.

The you have answered your thread about BYU and Utah football. Assuming you value conference championships, national championships, bowl appearances, heismans, etc.

Looks like we have wrapped up 2 threads at one time!
