I work with a Baylor grad and when the NCAA tournament started he was bummed that his Bears didn't make it even though they had such a good run in their conference tourney. We both said that we'd rather our team be one and done in the NCAA tourney than win the NIT. Well, now Baylor is in the NIT final and he's changed his mind. Curious what you all think. I'm still in the one and done camp but I'm biased, that's the best my team ever does.

One and done vs NIT

There really isn't anything positive about one and done.
Winning the NIT at least gives a team a chance to prove that perhaps it deserved an invitation to the Big Dance rather than another at-large team."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Normally I would say NCAA one and done. But one and done is getting old. A nice NIT run would be a change of pace if nothing else."It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."

The NIT is bizarre. Even the timing of it is unfortunate (although there really is no other time to have it).
It seems like a constant reminder that your team did not make the Dance.
Not In Tournament.

There is a reason people joke about the NIT.
Even at one and done, you are at least there. You have a mathematical chance. You have a shred of hope, even if it is private, unspoken hope.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

One and done in the CBI>One and done in the NCAA>NIT Final FourThere's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

Going deep in the NIT is like playing in the latest of the crappy MWC bowl games...the only thing that matters is the extra full practices that your team will get...especially if you have a young team."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
