At least the WCC isn't terribly worse than the Mountain West. Gonzaga > UNLV, St. Mary's = New Mexico.
Both of those are debatable, but there is no debate that after Gonzaga and St Mary's the dropoff in the WCC is much worse than in the MWC. With TCU and possibly Boise leaving the MWC, their Bball is actually improved.
Maybe, but the only 3-4 that are worth crap now is UNLV, SDSU, New Mexico. Nevada will be decent when they join. Utah State needs to do everything it can to get into the MWC.
Why not form a men's BB only conference of all the best leftovers in the west?
BYU
Gonzaga
Utah State
UNLV
SDSU
New Mexico
Nevada
St Mary's
UTEP
Because the conference commissioners in the WCC, Big West (because you should have Long Beach State in here instead of Nevada), MWC, WAC and C-USA would never allow it?

According to realtimerpi.com, the WCC is significantly worse than the MWC. Annually. And that's not including the great environments the MWC provides, as opposed to the multi-purpose gyms most WCC teams play in.

I'm not disagreeing, the arenas are basically glorified gyms in the WCC (I liked the atmosphere of Gonzaga though), but I don't think the WCC is really worse at all than the MWC.
